This 2024-25 1st Team All-Delaware County as well as 1st Team All-Area selection recently committed to Holy Family University (D2). Gardler (21 ppg. in 2024-25) is one of the top 3-point shooters in the state of Pennsylvania. His ability to slide over to the point guard spot and operate as a primary ball handler, is an underrated part of skill set. Gardler is a fantastic addition for HFU.

This crafty and quick combo guard with an automatic jump shot was on a mission in this 5A tournament game. Gardler need 30 points in this contest to become the all-time leading scorer in Marple Newtown’s history and it was evident early on that Gardler was not going to be denied. Despite being face guarded and / or double teamed, Gardler hit jumpers from all over the court and produced points off dribble drives. He also got out in the open court for transition buckets. When the final horn sounded Gardler had poured in 34 points (6 threes). He is now MN’s career scoring leader with 1,630 points. How this multi-skilled guard prospect remains available is a mystery.

This quick combo guard with tight handles and a watery jump shot was selected as the Central League MVP for the second consecutive season. During his outstanding senior year, Gardler averaged 20 points per night and popped over 70 triples. He posted a couple of 30-pieces and recently assembled a near triple double of 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists in D1-5A playoff game win over Strath Haven. Obviously Gardler can lace threes all game, but his ability to work as a primary ball handler is vastly under rated. In that role, Gardler can use the dribble to create for himself or to distribute to teammates. Gardler is extremely skilled at attacking the paint and then drawing whistles on his way to the rim.

Gardler’s reputation as a highly accurate three-point shooter with a quick release proceeds him. Still, in Marple’s 1st Round 5A victory over Strath Haven, it was his off the dribble scoring that carried him to a 23-point effort (1 three). Twelve of those points came during a red-hot third quarter. Working predominantly as a point guard, Gardler continually attacked the rim in the half court and on the fast break for points. His ability to draw fouls on his way to the cup is astonishing. On half court possessions, he was especially effective getting into the lane via pick-n-roll action at the top of the key

The 2023-24 Central League POY was not going to let his underdog Marple squad go down without a fight against top seeded Penncrest. On Friday night Gardler poured in 23 points, 10 of which came during a fourth quarter comeback by Marple Newtown that fell just short. Gardler was on his game last night as he popped 2 threes and got to his mid-range spots. Gardler has now hit 51 triples on the season. On Friday night Gardler also served as a primary ball handler. In that role he relentlessly attacked the paint for scores and well-timed kick out passes. Gardler’s knack for drawing a whistle on his dribble drives is James Harden-esque.

The reigning Central League POY as well as an 2023-24 All-Area selection is averaging 20 points per night this season. On Thursday night he boosted that scoring average by dropping 25 points during a win over Radnor. Gardler hit 5 threes against Radnor, three of which came in the first quarter. In addition to popping triples, Gardler operated as a primary ball handler who scored off the dribble too. His high IQ and instincts enabled Gardler to quickly identify double teams and then move the ball to an open teammate.

After the 2023-24 season, Gardler was named the Central League POY as well as an All-Area selection. In 2024-25 we like his chances of earning both of those honors again. Last year Gardler posted 20 points and 5 assists per game while draining 68 threes. He shot 43% from behind the arc and posted multiple 30-point games. During his upcoming senior campaign, it is likely that Gardler will post even more impressive numbers because this season he will be playing significant minutes as the primary ball handler for Marple. So, this winter in addition to popping threes, Gardler will be creating off the dribble for himself and teammates. With Gardler in full control of Marple’s offense, there is no limit to the stats this uncommitted senior can record.
