While it came in losing fashion, the well-rounded performance that Rush put together against Sankofa Freedom (PA) did plenty to show that he has a chance to emerge as one of the more effective sophomores in District 1 this winter. Stepping into a prominent role after contributing as a freshman a year ago, Rush showed a versatile skillset and cerebral approach along the perimeter. Sliding all across the positional spectrum, he made skilled and high-IQ plays off the dribble while also showing natural touch as a finisher in the midrange and catch-and-shoot threat out to the arc. Where he shakes out positionally on the defensive end will go a long way towards determining his ultimate level, but Rush has the type of game that should have him college-ready when the time comes in a few years.

Rush is aridiculously accurate three-point shooter who earned a spot in Marple’s first five for opening night of this freshman year. This past season Rush repeatedly proved he could handle that starting role. He posted 23 points during Marple’s defeat of Episcopal Academy as well as 15 points (5 triples) in a win over Radnor and 15 points (4 threes) in a victory against Conestoga. Rush’s quick release and non-stop off-ball movement combined with his high IQ make him difficult to guard on the perimeter. His ability to use a head / ball fake, followed by a side dribble into space for a clean look is impressive. Rush excels at knocking down transition threes too because he does a fantastic job of running to his spots, getting his feet set and then shooting the rock.
