Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
After a freshman year at Malvern Prep, Miller has been one of the more effective lead guards in the district from the moment he put on a ‘Stoga uniform and is now looking to lead a Pioneer team with eyes on a district playoff run. A strong and compact dribble-drive guard, he has a tight and creative handle that he uses to generate paint touches with regularity. Miller is a sparkplug looking to push the pace in transition while consistently creating easy looks for his teammates with his downhill aggression. A streaky shooter from the perimeter, he’ll solidify himself as a scholarship-level guard over the course of the winter if he shows to be a consistent threat to stretch defenses out beyond the arc.

Everyone knows that Miller can wreak havoc on an opponent by attacking their defense off the dribble for buckets or to drop dimes. Thus, what really popped about Miller’s performances at Philly HS Live was his highly accurate three-point shooting. Miller appears to have put significant work into his shooting stroke between the end of ‘Stoga’s season and the June live period. He splashed triples of every variety including a handful of impressive transition threes. Miller also knocked home several logo distance threes on half-court possessions. His quick release and ability to shoot coming out of a dribble move were impressive.

Miller has been on the radar locally for some time now, starting as a freshman at Malvern Prep before transferring over to Conestoga and being a staple as the Pioneers’ starting point guard ever since. A strong and compact downhill dribble-drive guard, he shows a tight and creative handle that he uses to create paint-touch opportunities with regularity. He looks to spark transition opportunities with his aggressive pace while being consistently unselfish as a passer. Already firmly on the scholarship radar, he could boost his standing as a prospect with refinement in his decisionmaking and growth as a perimeter shooter.

Miller has quickly established himself a front runner for the 2024-25 Central League POY award. Across two wins this week Miller averaged 22 points per game. On Thursday night posted 24 points in a huge win over defending CAL champion Lower Merion. Miller’s 3-point shot appears to have improved, but what has not changed is his elite ability to produce points off the bounce. This week Miller’s quick dribble drive moves got him into the lane lay-ins, floaters, and runners. Plus, he led the fast break where he got buckets and dished out assists. Miller is a crafty defender who often knifed through passing lanes from the help side for steals.

Miller was a 1st Team All-Central League selection last season and is a front runner for the 2024-25 POY award. This past Saturday he proved why he is a favorite for that POY nod. In ‘Stoga’s heart breaking three-point loss to Coatesville, Miller scored 15 points. However, it was not his 3-level scoring skills that impressed us the most. Instead, it was the poise he showed as ‘Stoga’s primary ball handler against one of most intense defensive teams in the area. Miller continuously broke Coatesville’s full court pressure and half-court traps with composure and then got his Pioneers team into their designed sets. On other possessions, Miller used his elusive handles to drive the ball into the paint for runners, lay-ins and kick out passes. When those drives into the lane produced whistles, Miller calmly knocked down his free throws.

He posted a near triple double of 13 points, 10 dimes and 7 rebounds in win over Whitehall. His speedy, multi-faceted point guard skill set was on full display all weekend. Miller’s ability to get into the paint for scores, kicks out or drop passes to the dunker spot was impressive.

It should not be shocking that Miller played well again this past weekend during Comp Edge Fall action. The All-Central League point guard scored at every level, directed ‘Stoga’s fast break and delivered precise dimes to teammates. His ability to get downhill off high screen action and then attack the opposing defense off the dribble was impressive. If the help defense arrived late, Miller got to the rim. When the help defense slid on time, Miller kicked out to open shooters. Miller drained a couple threes too.

Miller was a 1st Team All-Central League selection after his outstanding sophomore season, and in 2024-25 he should challenge for the POY award. This multi-skilled point guard does a tremendous job of balancing his own scoring with getting teammates involved. Miller (11.5 ppg.; 5 rpg. 3 apg. in 2023-24) is ridiculously fast and owns tight handles, so he can pilot the fast break for scores or assists. In the half-court, he can score at every level or direct ‘Stoga’s designed plays and then deliver well-timed dimes. He is especially effective in DHO as well as pick-n-roll action. Miller also has a knack for getting into the paint and then executing smooth kick out passes to an open shooter.

After watching ‘Stoga numerous times during fall ball action, they will be the preseason favorite to win the Central League title in 2024-25. Their lineup is deep, and every starter can score in bunches. However, their success this coming season will still rely heavily on the play of their All-Central League point guard. In Conestoga’s win over Methacton, Miller (20 pts.) once again proved he is ready to handle that level of pressure. Miller excelled in transition where he pushed the rock for scores and assists. His decision making on the fast break was flawless. Miller also did a tremendous job of running ‘Stoga’s half-court offense. He was fantastic in DHOs and pick-n-rolls. He also delivered several timely kick-out passes. Miller’s ability to create off the bounce for himself and teammates is extraordinary. When he was given space, Miller did not hesitate to stroke a three.
