Lapel vs Anderson Prep: Clash of 2030 Standouts

The performances of these young men brought a lot of attention to their basketball talents.    Ryder showed the ability to catch and shoot the ball effectively from the perimeter. He was able to show all the necessary skills needed to score in various ways. In Monday's game, I watched Ryder take the ball strong to the basket and score. (Sometimes through contact) On a couple of occasions, he stepped behind the arc and nailed a couple of threes. He's a player who has a team first mentality. Ryder does whatever's necessary to get his squad the win. Whether its scoring, rebounding or throwing a nice pass, this young man has an unselfish attitude on the court. Defensively, he's a steady defender who stays with his man and makes it tough for the opposition to be effective. In my opinion, Ryder shows all the traits of a player who has a good all-around feel for the game. Keep it up Ryder!!     From what I saw Monday evening, Pierre definitely has the skills to play both guard positions. He displayed every facet of what it takes to be a lead guard. Pierre showed great leadership with his passing ability and communication with others. He's an excellent ball handler who was able to drive by defenders and attack the paint. A very creative player who threw flashy passes and finished around the basket with floaters. As I said, Pierre has scoring capabilities to go along with being a willing passer. This makes him moving over to the two guard position, a smooth transition. He makes plays on the defense, by playing the pass lanes and forcing turnovers with great on-ball pressure. Keep grinding Pierre!!     Leif is a tough minded big man who played with aggression on both ends of the court. He's a good player down in the painted area of the floor. Leif was able to dominate by scoring on put-backs around the basket. He's an excellent rebounding forward who had no issues grabbing boards over the opposition. He lead the Lapel squad in this category. On multiple occasions, Leif really showed his physicality in the paint, by crashing the offensive glass and scoring tough baskets. He can also knock down mid-range shots whenever the opportunity presents itself. On defense, he made scoring in the paint difficult by challenging every shot near the basket. Keep working Leif!!     Terrance plays the point guard position very well. He showed a great ability of distributing the ball in places his teammates could be successful. Terrance excelled at being a leader on the floor in all facets of the game. This young man showed a willingness to stay in constant "attack mode" during the game. I really appreciated this! It shows his toughness and no quit attitude every leader should have. Terrance is a strong and agile guard with a low to the ground makeup. He doesn't seem quick, but looks can be deceptive. This guy can handle the ball and drive by defenders with ease. He also showed the skills of shooting from mid or long-range in Monday's game. Terrance is a solid point guard who can be even better in the near future. Keep it up Terrance!!     Deaon plays the game with high energy. He's a great ball handler who has the skills to create for himself or teammates. Deaon excelled at driving into the paint and scoring at the basket. He can also score the ball in a number of ways. Whether it was scoring floaters over taller defenders, knocking down mid-range shots or nailing three pointers; Deaon made it happen! On defense, he's a tough minded guard who really pressured opposing guards into mistakes. He excelled at using his quickness to steal the ball while playing the passing lanes. Most of these steals lead to fast-break opportunities for Anderson team. As long as he continues to put in the work, Deaon will have a chance to be a really special in the years to come. Keep grinding Deaon.
