South Dakota 2025 Rankings: Stock-Risers

The updated South Dakota 2025 rankings were posted today. That brought on a bunch of movement and additions to the rankings board. We'll start things out by looking at the notable stock-risers in the top 50.    I went back and watched more of some of the top 2025 prospects and a good amount of AA basketball. And Talley stood out to be on another level of gear, poise, and making all sorts of plays. He's super quick and fluid with the ball when he's accelerating to get into the open court. He can dime off to cutters or find teammates around the hoop. He'll also take it in and score for himself in a manner of ways. I think he puts together a very nice season.     Easton makes a jump up the board one spot to crack the top 5. He's the most dynamic, quick and high energy point guard in the state. If he's 2-3 inches taller, his recruitment changes. But he's such a difference-maker with the ball in his hands, that we can excuse some of the size chatter. He's signed off to Briar Cliff University, and I think he's locked-in at repeating as state champs more than anything.     I went and looked back at some Stevens ball to take a look at a couple of 2025's. Segrist was one of them. I believe that the more and more closely you watch him, you can only improve your view on him as a player and prospect. I really love his quick-trigger three-ball jumper more than anything. He can also shoot and make off-balance and fading jumpers.     [player_tooltip player_id='1958459' first='Lucas' last='Johnson'] I'm very high on — and probably higher on than most. He's got a Hamline University offer, and I think NAIA schools need to do the same. He's a superbly long floor-spacer at 6'6”. He can space the floor from three and pop rhythm threes from the wing. He can also create off the dribble and passes well on the perimeter and takes care of the rock. A lanky frame that he needs to put size on.     Virtue is getting a bunch of NAIA offers and he's impressing college coaches. He's a wing/forward that plays with a motor, energy, and effort. I watched some Custer games about a month ago, and Virtue doesn't have a clear position for the next level, but he's still got solid size and his motor have to be what coaches like. He just gets the job done out there. There's something to be said about that.     Dulaney is a Division I football signee, and you can see the D1 athleticism on the basketball court as well. He's an athletic mover and has explosion. Had a great state tournament, and I think he blows up a little in his Senior season. I think he'll be one of the most improved scorers in AA.     Noll is an underrated point guard in the state. An elite athlete and mover on the court. He moves so well that staying in front of his matchup and pressuring them seems fluid and easy to him. Very quick off the dribble and attacking gaps.     Baskin has garnered a bunch of NAIA/D3 offers. He's a well-rounded guard that is impressive both on and off the court as well, by my findings. I watched the state AA tournament this past week, and Baskin was a crucial piece and playmaker for Sioux Falls Washington.     Phillips is another long wing that can space the floor. He takes off and has a standout Senior season. Showing some promise as a long defender. I think he earns some accolades as the season concludes.     Collette is my pick for best shooter in the state. Coaches love shooting and shooters, and Collette is on an elite level from the three-point line.     Olson's 6'7” length and upside is not common in this class, so he was moved up. Would like him to take another step forward in his final season.     Ehlers has been mentioned recently, and he's now put himself on the radars of coaches, by attending events and showcases. His length and shot-making are some standout traits.     Olson is such a quick and explosive point guard, that his sized is ignored some here. Lightning-quick guard with the ball and off the dribble.     Hansen picked up an offer from Mount Marty University this offseason. He's a tough-nosed guard/wing with a solid all around profile and recruitability.     Hawley is a prospect that we were way too low on in the past. He's long, mobile, and athletic as a 6'5” wing. Was at nearly 10 points per game last season, and he'll be a key piece for Rapid City Stevens.     Buehler is a great scoring guard that can handle the ball and facilitate an offense as well. Look for him to be a big-time scorer and offensive threat in his final season.     Payne is up to 6'6” from his 6'4” listing a year ago, per sources. He's one of the rare true old school post players. He could be an interior force for Jefferson.
