Had breakout shooting performances beyond the arc to blow open a big win over Georgetown Prep and close out a win over Jackson Reed. Toatley adds a dynamic, physical slashing guard that can get to the rim and finish with the inside hand reverse, pull-up short jumper in front of the rim, extension lay, and turn-around jumper off the pivot. Toatley is staying home and keeping his hand out of the cookie jar to provide some stifling on-ball defense without fouling. He's starting to mix in more drop-offs to the big and hit reverse pivot kick-outs to a shooter instead of forcing up a tough shot, showing better processing in tight spaces in the key. Want to see him use his size and athleticism to sneak in for more rebounds to ignite fastbreaks with a running start-- but he's off to a great start this season.

-Shackleford turned some heads with an explosive scoring performance in a closely-contested game with Georgetown Prep. He started off the night with a C+S 3, hit a nice reverse lay off glass after driving baseline, scored on a post-up on the low block, and was pretty electric in transition throughout the night. The POA defense has improved, he's in gaps defensively and has active hands both on and off the ball. I like how he is using his speed/athleticism to get the rim in both the halfcourt and in transition. Shooters most definitely shoot-- but I want to see him get some easy ones and mix in some trips to the FT line to get back into a scoring rhythm after he misses a few jumpers. Needle is pointing back up for the rising junior guard.

-Marshburn is playing his role to perfection early in the season, shooting 50% from the field without having sets run for him-- creating his own offense and rhythm with long rebounds/putbacks in the paint. He's getting into his jumper much more fluidly from all 3 levels, shooting baseline short corner jumpers with the same motion as long 3s from the wing. Marshburn's handle and athleticism has improved as he is much more comfortable handling the rock but I would like to see him add more weight to his frame to create more separation for himself on simple 2-dribble pull-ups or stepbacks because he can really score it. With good positional size, a growing skillset, and the ability to generate his own offense-- he's a prospect to keep an eye on as college coaches begin to work on their 2026 recruiting classes.

-A tough shot-taker and a tough shot-maker, Perkins was huge for Highland in a big win over Bullis. The senior guard mixed a defender into a smooth pull-up two, hit a sidestep three going right, and scored on a fluid baseline fadeaway from the short corner over the defender. Perkins showed a bit more of his scoring depth in their win over McNamara by hitting floaters and short jumpers in the paint over a slew of different defenders. His movement off the ball has improved to create easier looks at the rim and he's using his opponent's weight against them with better frequency-- hitting them with a jab on a long closeout to raise up for a jumper or attacking their top shoulder to blow past them to the paint for an easier look at the rim.

-The pieces are starting to come together for Olorungbohunmi as a 3+D wing that can guard 1-3 and some 4s at the HS level. A strong, physical defender that can chest up guards on drives or defend in the post against forwards-- I really like the lefty's upside as his jumper continues to smoothen out and look consistent. 6 stocks in 2 games and several highlight reel leaps to block shots off the backboard show his upside as a defensive-minded wing that does all of the little things for this Cadets group.

-Played hard until the final whistle and showed some nice upside as a guard prospect that can contribute in a few areas outside of the shooting. Missed a few decent looks in the first half but began to show his floor-spacing upside with a nice 8-point outburst (mainly off C+S looks) in the 4Q to cut the lead to single digits. With good positional size, the moxie to mix it up on the glass and defensively for the Tigers, and the shooting-- I expect Mahan to carve out a nice role for himself on a JR team that needs more perimeter shot-makers to open up the floor.
