-Marshburn has always been able to knock down shots from the midrange, effectively getting to his spots for pull-ups or knocking down shots off of curls or offensive rebounds. But the senior guard has really expanded his range for the Dragons this year as a prospect that can knock down shots from all three levels both off the catch and off the bounce. Love the balance on his jumper off of movement as Marshburn always gets his feet squared to the rim and took a huge leap with his comfort level attacking closeouts once a few shots went in. Those closeouts often translated into free throws that buoyed his consistency on a nightly basis for his team.

One of the better unsigned seniors in the MIAA, Marshburn came on strong out of halftime for Glenelg Country where he scored nine of his 13 points to regain striking distance for his team. A 6-foot-5 wing who can also slide up and play the two-guard, he did a nice job of using his size on drives where he turned his back to his defender and backed his way down to a spot within 15-feet before rising over for feathery jumpers. His combination of size and shooting is what makes him attractive as a college prospect and will play a vital role in potentially upsetting Mount Carmel in the semifinal round tomorrow night.

-The unsigned senior put on one of the best shot-making performances that I’ve seen, making ten of his first eleven shot attempts from the floor in a variety of ways. Marshburn got things started with a backdoor cut for an easy 2, squared up to hit a contested 3 off the bounce, knocked down a C+S corner 3, hit a tween tween pull-up 3 at the top of the key on an island with his defender, scored on a reverse pivot baseline pullup, scored off a tween tween step-back heat check 3 that hit nothing but net, and had an AND1 rip through floater off the window. His range extending past the three point arc and his ability to score with his back to the basket or facing his matchup is a testament to his work ethic.

Marshburn remains one of the more underappreciated and under recruited prospects in the Baltimore metro area. Given his size at 6-foot-6, his smooth shot-making prowess, and the intangibles that he can bring and further develop at the college level defensively, it surprises me that more scholarship programs aren’t taking a close look. Time will tell, but he’ll be a focal point for Glenelg Country this season as a primary offensive threat and given his consistency with Team Museum on the PRO16 circuit this summer, he received a bump from 46 to No. 41 overall in the latest update.

-The shooting ability and ball skills at Marshburn’s size should make him an intriguing candidate for college coaches in search of a wing in the senior class. Marshburn’s ability to produce at a consistent level while being a very low-maintenance piece in the GCS system that succeeds regardless of whether or not he has sets run for him. His activity around the basket has picked up as he has made improvements to his body to carve out more space for rebounds. LM coaches in search of a stretch wing/forward prospect should definitely take a look.

was one of the most impressive wings of the day. Donavan is a good spot-up shooter, and he can create his own shot. He has a nice mid-range game he gets to when teams run him off the line. He is great off the ball and was consistent and efficient in both games. He had 16 points in both games for Glenelg Country.

Another bright spot for Glenelg despite the setback was the play of Marshburn, who showed signs of what’s to come as he takes the reins next year with the graduation of the rest of the Dragons’ perimeter weapons. A swingman with good size and versatility on the perimeter, he plays a consistently clean and efficient game. Marshburn knows where his spots are and shows consistent mechanics and touch both off the catch from 3 and off the bounce in the midrange. He can also be effective at times as a cutter or running out in transition. We’re curious to see more of his ball skills and a more consistent defensive impact but it would be no surprise to see Marshburn attract D1 eyes this summer.

Donavan has performed well this season for Glenelg. Popped off for a few big games up to this point and has been trending up since the start of the season. Got to see a nice glimpse of Marshburn’s potential with a bigger role when Pat was out for a few games with injury. Carried the offensive load well as the lead scorer, having to create for himself off the dribble and responding with some nice fadeaways and drives to the rim off of isolation combo dribbles. Elite shooter with space and doesn’t mind shooting over tight closeouts. Donavan has progressed his offensive game since the start of the year in a big way. Continues to be the main perimeter defender as well. Stock is continuing to rise for Donavan.

Another high-level shooting performance from Marshburn. In the absence of team’s leading scorer, it was interesting to see the response from Donavan. He took on the task of becoming the go-to guy for Glenelg. He looked comfortable taking more shots, creating more off the dribble. You could see he was very capable of choosing where he wanted to get on the floor and making his way there with the dribble. He was effective in scoring when he made a quick move or two, and gathered for his pull-up jumpshot. Would have liked to see him be even more aggressive in hunting his shot because he made them team better when the defense had to worry about him. Had a solid couple of games for Glenelg as they fought hard down a major player.

-Marshburn is playing his role to perfection early in the season, shooting 50% from the field without having sets run for him– creating his own offense and rhythm with long rebounds/putbacks in the paint. He’s getting into his jumper much more fluidly from all 3 levels, shooting baseline short corner jumpers with the same motion as long 3s from the wing. Marshburn’s handle and athleticism has improved as he is much more comfortable handling the rock but I would like to see him add more weight to his frame to create more separation for himself on simple 2-dribble pull-ups or stepbacks because he can really score it. With good positional size, a growing skillset, and the ability to generate his own offense– he’s a prospect to keep an eye on as college coaches begin to work on their 2026 recruiting classes.
