Faith Christian vs Bethesda Christian- Standouts

Watching private school basketball was a totally new experience! These young men shined for all to see in Thursday nights game.    This is my second write up for Jacob. I have to say " he didn't disappoint!" He continues to be a great scorer who stays aggressive on the offensive side of the ball. Jacob is a excellent mid-range shooter, who loves getting to the basket. If he needs to extend his shot beyond the three point line; he had no problem doing so. During the game against Bethesda, Jacob knocked down four threes and a host of perimeter shots. He's a great ball handler who easily broke down the Bethesda defense. Jacob was able to attack from anywhere on the floor without much resistance. The improvement I noticed from AAU ball til now is his ability to rebound the basketball. During the summer, Jacob seemed to mainly be focused on scoring. Now he has a complete game. He attacked the glass and grabbed every board he could get his hands on. Defensively, he continues to be a pest for the opposition. He's a good on-ball defender who excels at using quick hands and timing to force turnovers. He finished the game with (19 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) Jacob will easily make the transition to high school basketball next season. Keep working Jacob!!     This guy was the clear-cut leader of the Bethesda squad. He lead his team in assists while being the primary facilitator of the basketball. Chase can handle the basketball and make plays for himself or his teammates. He ran the Bethesda offense with precision. Chase showed awesome leadership on the floor! He made sure all his teammates were in the right spots by verbally communicating with them. There were a number of occasions where he attacked the basket and scored through contact. He's a good shooter from mid-range and occasionally from beyond the arc. Chase is a great rebounding guard who had no issue attacking the glass and grabbing every board he could. On defense, he excelled at playing passing lanes and forcing turnovers from the opposition. Chase is a good all-around player who will progress into a great player in the near future.     Caden is an excellent post player who lead his team in scoring by dominating in the paint. Most of his shots came from good post moves and footwork. He excelled at using a variety of pump fakes to get his shot off inside. Caden is a really good rebounder who did most of his damage on the offensive glass. A number of those boards lead to easy scores for himself or shots for his teammates along the perimeter. The big man also demonstrated his ability to pass the ball. He threw a couple of nice passes to teammates cutting to the basket. Other passes came out of double teams being placed on him. He converted most of his free throw attempts and set good screens to free up other Bethesda players. Defensively, he was able to block a few shots and clog up space in the paint. This made scoring difficult for the Faith Christian players. Caden is a good player who should easily transition to high school basketball.     Titus continues to be a shifty combo guard who has the capability of playing both guard positions. This is my second write up of this young man and I must say " this guy is special!" He's an excellent ball handler who easily breaks down opposing defenses and makes plays. Titus can be effective as the teams primary facilitator or as the number one scoring option. He proved this fact by being one of the leading scorers and assists man in Thursday nights game against Bethesda. He does at all on the court in regard to intangibles. Whether its scoring, passing, rebounding or playing defense; Titus makes it happen. He's a shot-maker who can knock down shots from everywhere on the court. During the game, he shot a high percentage from the floor by converting most of his shots and free throws. Defensively, he applies constant pressure to opposing guards. He does this by stealing the ball and shooting passing lanes for easy turnovers. Having the skills to play both guard positions will benefit him greatly at the high school level. Titus finished the game with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals)     Excellent ball-handler who displayed all the necessary fundamentals needed to be a good floor leader. He is capable of making pin-point passes, which often lead to easy scores for his teammates. Banks effectively lead fast-break opportunities and made plays with great passes leading to easy baskets. Banks flawlessly ran the Faith Christian offense. His orchestration of running each set always lead to positive outcomes for his team. Banks is a great shooter who knocks down shots from the perimeter. When given the opportunity of nailing threes, he proved he could do so in Thursday nights game. On defense Banks excelled at playing a ball-hawking style that was very effective. He lead his team in steals by constantly pressuring the opposition. Banks leadership skills will take him a long way in the game of basketball. Keep it up Banks!!     This little guy is a shooter! I watched Coburn nail four threes in Thursday nights game against Faith Christian. He's very knowledgeable on how to use screens and free himself for open looks. He's a good team player who always found ways to take positive plays for everyone. Whether it was dishing out assists or playing help defense; Coburn made his presence known. He stayed in constant movement within the Bethesda offense, while he hunted for shots. When you have a shooters mentality like Coburn, making or missing doesn't effect him. He's a confident shooter who showed no fear in regard to taking shots. On defense, he gave maximum effort by pressing his opponent and making ball handling very difficult. As I said, Coburn's a shooter!! He'll have no issues playing at the next level. All coaches love shooters.     A tough rugged player who plays with aggression on both ends of the court. He plays with physicality in the paint, often crashing boards and scoring tough baskets. Patrick really excelled at grabbing rebounds, blocking shots and setting screens to free up teammates. He hustles all over the court in regard to diving for loose balls, taking charges and being a solid defender in the paint. The Bethesda team had a difficult time scoring whenever Patrick stood in the paint. He's really big for his age! With some work on his game offensively, he could be a threat at the high school level. Keep working Patrick!!
