The Central Valley sophomore has been quite impressive to start the year, spearheading their attack and playing a high-usage role for the Bears. He's the point man and not only is he in charge of creating a lot of their action with his ability to get penetration, but he's also their best scorer. It starts with his ability to handle the rock at a high level. He's great at creating separation, can blow by, step back, or side-step defenders, and he's been pretty effective knocking in some perimeter shots to balance out his slashes inside.

Sterling is a guard with some size and shooting ability which has helped him average 17.3 ppg to start the year. He has exhibited deep range and an ability to hit pretty consistently in the midrange, but what really looks to be taking off this year is his ability to create downhill and use his size more to finish at the rim. This has also led to a little more playmaking as Sterling is averaging 5.3 apg, up two full assists from last season.

Webster is a knockdown 3-point shooter who showed off how quickly he can get going in their game against Roosevelt this week. He was relatively quite in the first half, splashing in just one three, but came out in the second half drilling his first three shots from deep and opening up a big O'Dea lead. He's a kid who can score inside and out, and can really go with whatever is working.

Hernandez was one of the best scorers in the state last season and this year he'll be counted on a lot to not just score the rock, but create his own shot and shots for others. A prime example of this was in their recent game against Mt Spokane. The defense plugged the lane almost any time Hernandez found a gap, forcing him to really be aware of how to get the rock to his teammates in good spots. He also had to be more aggressive when he did have space to operate, dropping in several threes from way back and working some give-and-go's and backdoors to get to the rim and into space. He had a solid game reading the floor to score in different ways.

Northrop easily blew by the old Richland single-game scoring record, putting up 54 points on just 22 shots in 23 minutes. He came out of the gates hot, scoring 16 points within the opening three minutes, and ended with 43 points at halftime. He was hitting everything from deep, sinking 11-of-14 3-pointers (nine in the first half), and showed some power finishes at the rim too, shooting 17-for-22 overall with several and-one's in the mix.

Liberty has been mowing teams down to start the year and Whitaker has been the engine behind it, averaging 27 ppg for the first five games of the year, including a 40-point outburst in their second game. He's one of the smartest, craftiest guards in the state. He plays at his own pace and can score from each level and different spots on the floor, and is clearly in a groove to start his junior season.
