A big-time comeback for Huber Heights Wayne was fueled by Perkins in the second half. Finishing with 24 points on 5/10 from 3-point range, Perkins was efficient from the floor while also knocking down all of his five free-throw attempts. His most impressive bucket I caught was a lefty layup just before the first quarter buzzer after he beat a defender off the dribble. For Wayne to be successful this year, they'll need Perkins on his A game more times than not.

In what was by far the sloppiest game of the day, Groveport Madison used a strong fourth quarter effort to pull away from Columbus South and start their season with a win. Keyes was one of the most athletic players I saw on Saturday as he is a monster athlete vertically. That was shown at the end of the game with a monster slam dunk to help his team get some separation. Keyes has a quick first step and wanted to get downhill off the dribble. In transition was where he found the most success offensively.

I've watched Butterfield a ton over the past 12 months, with Olentangy Liberty as a Junior, with Midwest Gold in the summer and at the Midwest Fall League. I think he's shown considerable growth over that time in each spot he's played in and had a confident showing against Lutheran East. Always been a knockdown shooter, Butterfield hit some quick release shots against hard closeouts on Saturday. I also thought he looked more confident with the ball and is becoming a wing forward instead of just a stretch-4 on the court. Also playing tough through contact, Butterfield had multiple and-1's in the paint.

The most impressive team performance on Saturday was by Westerville North as they simply dominated Richmond Heights on both ends of the court. Young was a key reason for this domination as he got after it defensively and made life miserable for the Spartan guards. After defensive rebounds or steals, Young was looking to leak out and he had a couple breakaway dunks after getting behind the defense. Strong effort to start the season for a Westerville North squad that is a state title contender.

The final game of the day certainly brought the headlines as Reynoldsburg and Toledo Whitmer are star studded teams. Fisher stood out as a scorer with an efficient scoring effort, getting it done in a variety of ways. Fisher's teammates did a nice job of getting him the ball when he was open on the perimeter and he responded by making almost all of his clean looks from beyond the arc. Add in a couple alley-oop slam dunks and scoring off cuts in the half-court and Fisher was putting on a diverse scoring display. The future Ohio Bobcat is looking to go out strong for a Reynoldsburg squad that has the pieces to win a state title.
