Top Underclassmen in Columbus

Columbus has some nice talent all around and this is no different at the underclassmen level. In this article, I will be breaking down some of the top underclassmen in the area.    Mirgon was someone who played on a high-level Hilliard Bradley squad last year and I expect him to take a big step into a bigger role this year. He is a high IQ point guard the play mature beyond his years. He has great poise and pace in his game. He always sees the entire floor. He knows when to just get the offense started and then when to go make plays. I am interested to see him with more of a scoring impact on the game this year.     Evans had a big-time freshman year for Pick Central and I expect him to have a big role this year for the Tigers. He has the confidence and ability to do just this for them. He has gained some nice size and strength to him but maintained the same level of athletic ability. This size will allow him to have a bigger impact this year at attacking the rim. He has a smooth jumper that he hits consistently so I think the added strength will only open the game up more for him.     Johnson is a unique talent player because he makes some flashes of elite play. He made quick explosive plays last year that no one else in the gym could make. He has the ball on a tight handle and is shifty. He has good length for his size and poison as well. He can finish at the rim at a good level. I am excited to watch him string together these special plays together more consistently this year.     Reynolds passes the eye test when you see him. His height and size are everything you want in a young player. He then added great athletic ability and instincts to this. He is a great rebounder and someone who can go get the ball at the highest point. He is a good rim protector that makes you think twice about going to the basket. He is at new school this year so I expect him to have a bigger role than last year and show even more parts of his game off.     Stumpf is an impressive bucket getter. I expect him to have a big year at Big Walnut. He has the confidence and ability to put a lot of points on the board. After having a good AAU season for the [program_tooltip program_id='2075761' first='Ohio' last='Buckets'] he will be ready to take the next step this year. He just simply makes shots. He gets to his spots on the court well. He has a simple bag of one or two dribbles and pulls up well. He can hit shots off the dribble or off the catch-and-shoot. He has an impressive ability to create his own shot.     Perkins had a big role last year for a good Westerville North squad and I think you can expect the same this year. He is a super quick guard who can break you down and blow by you but he doesn't over-dribble. He seems to have a better understanding this year that he can simply get by you and create for himself or others. He finishes well at the rim for his size. A big thing for him this year will be the ability to knock down the open shots but I think he proved to me he can over the aau and scrimmages this year.
