Early Contenders

JL Chambers

Chambers returns possibly the best backcourt duo in 4A in [player_tooltip player_id='2023905' first='Tarris' last='Bouie III'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1682357' first='Markus' last='Kerr'] and their abilities should be on full display as an early favorite to take home the Queen City Conference regular season crown and then some. They'll certainly have a lot more than a conference title on their mind this season especially with 2026s [player_tooltip player_id='2449196' first='Malik' last='McCotter'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2474519' first='Cameron' last='Thompson'] ready to prove themselves after getting varsity experience this past season.

North Mecklenburg

Last year's NCHSAA 4A State Champions return [player_tooltip player_id='1409583' first='Chadlyn' last='Traylor'] (Charleston) as well as [player_tooltip player_id='1680977' first='Ashton' last='Pierce'], [player_tooltip player_id='1916754' first='Carson' last='Evans'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2045172' first='Zion' last='Williams'] with more to prove in defending their crown. Last year, they went 30-3, winning 17-straight behind Duke-bound swingman Isaiah Evans. They'll be a tough out after going 14-0 in conference action this past season but they'll be everybody's "calendar" game so to speak, given the circumstances.

West Charlotte

West Charlotte High is an early dark horse to make an impression in the Queen City Conference with 2027s [player_tooltip player_id='2321481' first='Amen' last='Pressley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2321484' first='Christian' last='Coleman'] leading the way. Coleman produced 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while Pressley produced 8.9 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game as a freshman. [player_tooltip player_id='2321485' first='Elijah' last='Littlejohn'] is a 2026 prospect as well given his activity in the painted area. He led the squad with 8.2 rebounds per game this past season. The Lions should surprise a few teams in conference action this season.

Palisades

Year 3 for Palisades High should be an intriguing one as they bring along 2025 big man Aurek Fenn and 2026 guard Kingston Henry. Henry produced 11.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while knocking 31 3-pointers as sophomore. He's due for a big junior year in the backcourt while Fenn leads the way in the frontcourt.
