Today, New England Recruiting Report and its staff hosted the New England Open Gym for basketball players in the New England area. The event was hosted at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts. Hundreds of players from across the region competed in drills and live games to show off their skills in front of many college personnel and coaches, some of which were coaching on the floor too. There was a ton of talent that impressed me, so without further ado, here is part 2 of my standouts from the New England Open Gym!

[player_tooltip player_id='2633567' first='Kehari' last='Walker'] was terrific on the offensive end and showed real scoring potential. With the ball, he was driving to the basket and scoring buckets in transition. With an athletic frame and a tight handle, he was getting to his spots with ease while showcasing his jumper off the bounce in the mid-range and performing euro steps through traffic. His three-point shot was also effective off the catch as well as off the dribble, and it made it hard to stop him the entire day.

[player_tooltip player_id='2546919' first='Asher' last='Abeles-Tierney'] continued to show off his passing skills at the point guard position while showing off his scoring prowess too. He made sick dimes in the half-court, finding cutters and shooters while making their lives easier with on-target looks. He even pulled off a behind-the-back pass on the move which stood out. He also looked comfortable getting to the cup for layups, using his body through traffic and quickness to get ahead of on-ball defenders. The crossover dribble move in his bag was also really effective in getting the job done, as he was able to create space for himself and take advantage of it in stride.

[player_tooltip player_id='2341415' first='Elijah' last='Avery-Turner'] had a great two-way performance that showed off his offensive juice and defensive activity. With a sweet handle, he was creating space off the dribble, getting to his spots, and knocking down shots off the bounce from mid-range and from deep. He also showed off his passing in transition and under-the-radar bounce with an on-the-break dunk that energized his team. Defensively, he had quick feet and active hands. Forcing steals and making life difficult for opposing on-ball offensive players. The confidence on the floor was telling and it showed in all facets of his game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2341409' first='Brode' last='Frink'] did the little things on the court while also having his offensive moments. He was very effective as a rebounder, grabbing boards on both the defensive and offensive end and getting easy points from his extra effort. He was making good passes in transition, finding the open man, and racking up assists. He also made a big block and competed defensively throughout. Lastly, he was able to score on drives to the basket and take on contact in transition with his aggressive style of play.

[player_tooltip player_id='2325887' first='Brandon' last='Burke Jr.'] looked the part athletically by getting to the basket easily for layups and throwing down a huge dunk with ferocity. Defensively, he was guarding with intensity and moving his body well to keep in front of his man, which overall played a crucial role in his team's success throughout the day.
