Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase – Team 13 Evaluations

Nobody does content and event coverage like Prep Hoops. That is never more true than doing our annual series of fall showcase events. This past Sunday, we hosted our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase which is the single best event we put on each year. Over 150 of the states best freshmen descended upon Fishers High School to play in front of our scouting staff as well as many area high school and grassroots coaches. Throughout the week, we will be pumping evaluations on every single kid that attended this event. For this one, we look at the players that made up Team 13.   ***As you can imagine, trying to cover 150+ prospects in a single event is a very daunting task. Also, there always end up being a couple of jersey number discrepancies, so if you attended the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and DID NOT receive an evaluation, please reach out to Brandon Ramsey via email coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com or on Twitter @BRamseyKSR.***    Berger is a 6'0" guard out of Zionsville High School with a lot of length to his frame. While I thought he could have maybe been a little more aggressive at times, when he did show some offense I was impressed with how he was able to score. There are certainly some tools to work with and his motor will be something to watch over the next few years as he continues to develop.     There has been a lot of talk surrounding the incoming freshmen at South Ripley High School and Werner is one of the players in that talented group. He is a really lanky wing that has a "three-and-D" type of style to his game. I thought he was one of the more willing rebounders as well at his position during the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.     There are some young prospects up in northern Indiana coming up the ranks and Hardiman is certainly one of them. The 6'2" guard has a long frame and uses it very well on both ends of the floor. Throughout the day I thought he worked really well off the ball to get a free look, which often times worked out in his favor. He also had a really nice pull-up three so there is potential for him to create his own shot long term.     Smith is a 5'10" guard out of Crawfordsville High School that is really quick. I thought he was one of the better facilitating guards to come out of the west central Indiana region at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase, really doing a good job finding his teammates at times. He utilized ball screens very well, which is how he did most of his scoring and passing. Smith had a couple of impressive finishes against opposing size.     At 5'5", Knox was obviously one of the smaller prospects in attendance at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. However, that didn't stop him from finding ways to impact the game. During 5-on-5 play he had a beautiful behind the back pass that led to an And-1. Then, later in the event, he knocked down a three-point shot showcasing his ability to score from multiple areas on the floor.     Wimbley is listed at 5'11" but was one of the more lanky guards in the gym at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. He was a very active utter and could create well off the dribble. The Fort Wayne Snider guard will need to get stronger and faster over the next couple years to fully see how his game blossoms.     Harrington is a 6'1" lead guard out of Providence High School that had a bigger, stronger frame than most guards that were in attendance at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. I thought he did a lot of the little things really well and hustled while doing so. One thing that really stood out to me was his willingness to set screens for his teammates to free up looks for them and move the ball up the floor as a passer in transition. Harrington is a very unselfish player.     Johnson was one of my top standouts throughout the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase from what I saw in his play. He is a very strong player that likes to play physically and through contact. While he is built more like a guard height wise, his frame is more like a post which is where he played more often than not. He showcased a smooth touch around the rim and has the ability to take his defender out to the perimeter and score from there. Very intriguing prospect.     Harris was one of the bigger, more physically impressive freshman prospects at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. At 6'6", Harris is very powerful in everything that he does. He is really explosive around the rim and has the physical tools you can work with long term. There is a lot to like about Harris already and I would not be shocked to see him get some significant varsity run at Indianapolis Lutheran this year. He was already a major contributor for the Saints this summer at the Charlie Hughes Showcase.
