High School Spotlight: Jeffersonville Red Devils

The season is still a few months away, but with team workouts starting to take place soon, it is the perfect time to start previewing the season. In this series, we will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and notable games for the upcoming season. For today's spotlight, we take a look at the Jeffersonville Red Devils.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Quick Hitters</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Went 20-8 last season.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Defeated by Ben Davis in the Semi-State championship game, 52-51.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Head Coach Sherron Wilkerson returns for his 3rd season at the helm. He is 33-17 as the head coach of Jeffersonville.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Viewed as a possible favorite in Class 4A to compete for a State Championship.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>Return 4 of their Top 5 scorers.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Big 3: [player_tooltip player_id='1388408' first='Tre' last='Singleton'], [player_tooltip player_id='1297093' first='Michael' last='Cooper'], [player_tooltip player_id='1373104' first='P.J.' last='Douglas']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For the Jeffersonville spotlight, I decided to switch things up a little when it comes to the top player of this team because really, they are much deeper than that. Instead of talking about just one player, I felt it was more appropriate to discuss arguably the best "Big 3" in the state which consists of seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1388408' first='Tre' last='Singleton'], [player_tooltip player_id='1297093' first='Michael' last='Cooper'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1373104' first='P.J.' last='Douglas']. This unit has been together for a very long time and really have become the face of the Jeffersonville program for the past few seasons with everyone knowing how great they are together. All three proved to be surefire D1 prospects over the summer playing together on [program_tooltip program_id='2400000' first='Indiana' last='Elite Team Indiana'] with both Cooper and Douglas eventually committing to Wright State together. Singleton is still on the board but looks like he will be choosing a school soon. In total, they bring back 44.4 points per game with all three having a legit shot at making the Indiana All-Star team as well. The final year of this unit will be a fun one to watch as they look to cap off their playing time together with a deep state title run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2141037' first='Caleb' last='Jones']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While the big three gets a lot of the exposure when it comes to Jeffersonville, it should be noted that the supporting cast that they have has also pretty good as well. One player that we at Prep Hoops Indiana have our eye on as far as breakouts in the 2027 class is 6'0 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2141037' first='Caleb' last='Jones']. Jones had a really strong summer with Indiana Elite that saw his stock rise a little bit after earning some varsity time as a freshman last year. Coming into this season, he can expect to see a role increase and be a big part of what Jeffersonville is trying to accomplish this season.
