After two strong months of basketball in June and July I compiled a list of big men that I felt would contribute to the next level based on what I saw over the summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105203' first='Kobe' last='Walker'] - Normal

Walker may be the biggest stock riser of the summer with his play in the post. Kobe started June with a slimmer frame and nimble footwork. His play has been steady scoring with both hands using fundamentally sound jump hooks. His shot also looked good as he's developed a soft touch. He's a low-major talent that can slide into the mid-major level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1766464' first='Anton' last='Strelnikov'] - Lake Zurich

Strelnikov has been a physical force this summer. He's a post player who initiates contact first by burying defenders under the basket when looking to post. On the catch, he can turn on either side and score with fluidity. At 6'7 he's an old-school post that can also step out and hit a jumper when needed. Has a list of D1 offers that will continue to grow.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545117' first='Nick' last='Allen'] - Bradley Bourbonnais 6'10

When it comes to Allen he's improved a lot since the end of last season. He's been very dependable offensively using a combination of his length and feathery touch around the basket. Nick also has shown to be more aggressive and making plays right away as opposed to waiting to see how the defense is guarding him. Allen has a handful of mid-major schools working for a commitment from him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1576619' first='Jonah' last='Funk']- El Paso Gridley

The very athletic big man at 6'9 had some moments in June. Jonah is a long and athletic post who has been drifting out to the perimeter some. He's at his best in space when playing in pick-and-roll situations or the short corner. He finishes well at the rim usually with two-handed dunks. He's a talented rim protector as he shows good timing for blocked shots. He has several offers from Division 1 schools.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545128' first='Dalton' last='Scantlebury'] - Lane Tech

Scantlebury started the summer strong after having a very good spring with [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose']. A 6'9 post player with a good handle and a passer while in the post. Dalton is a load on the boards and has good upper-body strength to finish through contact. He has many schools interested but there is a notion that he's Ivy League bound.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385301' first='JT' last='Pettigrew'] - Bolingbrook

Pettigrew had a strong finish to the summer finishing out on the EYBL with the Fire. JT is a double-double threat. He scores on the inside and out, keeping things simple by finishing with jump hooks and sweeping layups. Pettigrew has the skills to play on the perimeter and can hit shots with consistency. He's a mid-major talent with multiple offers on the table.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385310' first='Alexander' last='Vincent'] - OPRF

I watched Vincent in June and I was very pleased with his activity in the paint. He's become a better finisher at the rim through contact. Alex is a good size at 6'10 with some weight on him. He's moving better and is also mobile which helps him clog lanes on the defensive side. Has division 2 schools in on him.

[player_tooltip player_id='2321402' first='Adam' last='Walker'] - West Town (Romeoville)

When we watched Walker he was tearing it up at Romeoville in June since then he has decided to go the prep route. As a player, Adam showed improvement in his scoring around the rim. Being able to finish plays with dunks and physical putbacks. Still a ways to go he has coordination and foot speed to make moves around slower defenders. Going prep could be the right move for the big man who should be a bonified D1 prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105191' first='Hunter' last='Gawron'] - Niles North

Very underrated post player who scores using athleticism and physicality around the basket. Hunter is very good on the offensive boards with his quick second jumps. He has an upside to his game with some perimeter skills. Gawron has some small schools interested in his talents.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385284' first='Keyshawn' last='Barfield'] - Lincoln Park

Keyshawn is a physical body at 6'9 who keeps things simple around the rim. Has solid post ability that continues to grow. A very reliable rim protector. Small schools have reached out.

[player_tooltip player_id='1766477' first='Zion' last='Young']- Schaumburg

Young has emerged as a college prospect this summer. At 6'8 he's fundamentally sound in the post. Uses drop steps to turn over his shoulder to score. Young has a solid size that coaches can mold into a force. A small school prospect can be useful at the next level.
