Friday night began The Last Dance in Chicago. The largest live period event in the country kicked off with four rounds of games! We dive into what we saw here in The Last Dance: Scotty B's Friday Notebook!

Jackson Jr Drains Game Winner for 1 Dream 17U

The first game of the night came between a pair of teams who competed last weekend in the Grit Region Finals and each have numerous sleeper prospects in 1 Dream vs Flight Athletics. In the end Kankakee 2026 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='1874752' first='Kenaz' last='Jackson Jr.'] was just too much as he drilled the game winning three to give his 1 Dream team the victory 57-55. Jackson has absolutely emerged as a prospect that low-majors and high D2s should be tracking heading into his junior season. The 6'4” wing that a feathery touch from the perimeter banging in jumpers in bunches. Made four triples and an array of mid-range pull ups from 15-18 feet in the win scoring 20 points. His point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1598786' first='Willie' last='Felton'] was fantastic as a facilitator in this one setting up Jackson Jr along with his other teammates with dimes on the money consistently. Also got in to the cup off the bounce for 9 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2425590' first='Trey' last='Provost'] is a 6'0” Bishop McNamara guard that is tough as nails, made shots, and was solid as a passer.

Plainfield South power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2399484' first='Kareem' last='Parker'] is an undersized and bouncy four for Flight Athletics that was super impactful with his quickness on the offensive glass, rim running, and even hit a three to open the contest. Finished with 14 points. Plainfield North 6'4” wing Quintin Wiencek also caught our attention for Flight with his strong game and overall skill set being able to shoot and pass. Good small college player.

Powerhouse 17U Spreads Wealth in Win Over Wisconsin Playmakers

Powerhouse out of the northern Chicago suburbs is a program that has won a ton this spring and summer. It continued on Friday with a win against a really good Wisconsin Playmakers squad 72-64. Evanston 6'5” 2025 power forward [player_tooltip player_id='2538922' first='George' last='Richardson'] really emerged in this one. Face up four man that plays with strength. Can hit from three in the pick/pop along with decking it a couple dribbles. Physical around the hoop and rebounds in his area recording 21 points. Another strong bodied forward that got it going was Loyola 6'4” small forward Gunnar Worth who was a flame thrower from three in the second half hitting four of them in the second stanza alone on his way to 21 points. Early in the game Highland Park 5'10” point guard Simon Moschin displayed a crafty feel along with some shot making while going for 11 points. Despite only scoring two points Niles North 2025 floor general Kaidan Chatham controlled the pace of the game with his ball handling and distribution getting everyone involved with his passing.

Zachary Orr had a massive first half for Wisconsin Playmakers. The point guard hit four triples in the loss finishing with 15 points.

[program_tooltip program_id='2075685' first='Minnesota' last='Select']'s Lights Out Shooting Survives Late Run by [program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire']

It looked like [program_tooltip program_id='2075685' first='Minnesota' last='Select'] 17U was going to run away from the [program_tooltip program_id='2452456' first='Mac' last='Irvin Fire'] 2026 group that was playing up as they simply couldn't miss for stretches. The Fire stormed back to cut the game to a four point contest late before falling 76-70. Minnesota Duluth commit [player_tooltip player_id='1139244' first='Brooks' last='Johnson'] was a favorite of mine last year and it was more of the same in my first look at him this summer. Skilled forward that can really shoot the ball from the perimeter as he nailed an array of threes on his way to 21 points and 7 rebounds. [player_tooltip player_id='1574219' first='Kyle' last='Steinke'] is a prospect that caught our attention as the skilled four man was efficient with his touches scoring around the hoop and stretching for a couple threes making 6-6 FG. [player_tooltip player_id='1437303' first='Brogan' last='Madson'] can really pass the ball and that was what he showcased in this one as he spread the wealth to his running mates going for 9 points and 9 rebounds.

The Fire were led by the highly ranked prospects. Kankakee 2026 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2105360' first='Lincoln' last='Williams'] took it baseline for several scores, posted up weaker defenders, hit a jumper, and played off his defense for scores in the open floor notching 13 points. Kenwood combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1845363' first='Rajan' last='Roberts'] got it rolling in the second half as he put pressure on the rim with his athleticism and speed for 15 points. His 2027 teammate at Kenwood [player_tooltip player_id='2125612' first='Devin' last='Cleveland'] struggled a bit shooting early, but like always he took over when needed as he was a major part of their comeback attempt hitting some tough jumpers en route to 16 points. Johnson Prep 2025 small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2321397' first='TJ' last='Seals'] is a physical wing with a strong frame. Best going downhill, but he did hit a couple jumpers in the second half for 13 points and 7 boards.

[program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] Scores Late Night 15U Win Against [program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears']

With the game before going to OT this was the last game of the evening as a pair of Illinois squads clashed in a 15U contest. [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] got after it late on the defensive end prevailing 62-58. [player_tooltip player_id='2540149' first='Tobyus' last='Banks'] emerged as a legit prospect in the 2027 class. Strong and broad shouldered scoring guard was a bully going downhill for scores at the cup with his combination of strength and handle. Can also shoot it hitting a couple from three and was active defensively finishing with 21 points. St. Laurence combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='2125677' first='Reggie' last='Stevens'] got hot with the jumper in the second half pouring in an array of them for 15 points. One of the more intriguing pure scoring lead guards in the class. Leo point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2323606' first='Asa' last='Harris'] was a force defensively with his lateral quickness and hands. Also can really shoot it in the mid-range.

[program_tooltip program_id='2075532' first='Illinois' last='Bears'] were led by Garrett Miller from Kentucky who had 20 points. Plus shooter hit a couple from three but it was his continued growth off the bounce and improved athleticism finishing that impressed. Scored with creativity off the bounce throughout the game. Vandalia 2027 four man [player_tooltip player_id='2383975' first='Lucas' last='Bowers'] shined early with his efficient scoring around the hoop out of the dunker spot and offensive glass for 10 points. The lead guard getting Bowers the rock was [player_tooltip player_id='2383925' first='Dariontez' last='Monroe'] who won off the bounce and fed his teammates.
