Here are some sophomore guards getting ready for big junior seasons. They will all play vital roles for their high school teams and showed how capable they are with strong play in the waning weeks of the AAU season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2021656' first='Lucas' last='Stevens'] Eisenhower | Yakima Flight

Stevens is a potent outside shooter who showed a pretty smooth game getting to his spots while at Las Vegas Live. He was controlled off the bounce, mixed up speeds and switched up his attack going left or right. He's a key guy at Eisenhower and should be in for another solid season this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2173114' first='Ohmono' last='Bomet'] Garfield | [program_tooltip program_id='2076260' first='FOH' last='']

He did a great job pushing the ball and keeping pressure on the defense without giving them a moment to get set. He's super fluid with the ball, can weave through defenders with speed and control, and made a few real tough finishes at the cup with defenders right on him. Bomet's a name to watch this winter who can light it up on both ends and has looked like a very complete player this spring/summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='1863194' first='Pierce' last='Bierlink'] Quincy | [program_tooltip program_id='2451463' first='NW' last='Drip']

His most appealing skill is his long-range shooting and he's been on a tear from 3-point range to end the month. That being said, he's also picked up other areas of his game; the downhill drive, and his on-ball defense. He was the Caribou League MVP last season and will be in for a bigger test next year as Quincy moves to the CWAC.

[player_tooltip player_id='1863247' first='Chase' last='Mentink'] Auburn | [program_tooltip program_id='2076260' first='FOH' last='']

Mentink's continued to play more confidently with the ball in his hands throughout the spring and summer, both with his high school squad and in the AAU season. He's been getting easier penetration from the perimeter and as he showed at Cali Live, has really developed as a passer. He made quick decisions, incorporated ball fakes, splashed in 3s, and was making great reads to find teammates while on the go.

[player_tooltip player_id='1685505' first='Malakai' last='Weimer'] Skyview | [program_tooltip program_id='2451463' first='NW' last='Drip']

Weimer is a tough player who has been affecting the game with timely plays and big buckets. He's a kid who continually gets to the hoop, loves to work back and forth and finish guys off with quick spins to the hoop. He's tough at the rim, has really come alive from 3-point range, and shows he's an all-around player with some heady defensive plays and the ability to find teammates with long outlets up ahead of the defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2021594' first='Giovanni' last='Moimoi'] Kentridge | [program_tooltip program_id='2078823' first='Washington' last='Supreme']

Moimoi first came on the scene bullying older kids around the rim for Kentridge and has since taken his game further outside, attacking from the perimeter but continuing to be a big force at the rim. He's a strong kid and showed that strength at Cali Live to battle through contact on drives, remain balanced, and score off two feet. He was super efficient at the cup and had a good burst to get by the initial defender and down the lane.

[player_tooltip player_id='1685492' first='Brian' last='Webster'] O'Dea | NW Rotary Rebels

Webster put on an impressive shooting performance down in Augusta, knocking in 5-of-9 3PT attempts including four in a row in the first half of their game against Paul George Elite. In the second half, he started attacking hard closeouts and getting to the hoop, using either hand to get to the rim and converting on some contested finishes up high. He made a couple of buckets through fouls too, and really showed some good poise to mix up his attack and not fall in love solely with the long-ball even with his hot shooting.
