Who are some of the top up-and-coming Freshman in the state of South Dakota? Let's take look at eight 2028 prospects from South Dakota that have stood out to me this Spring/Summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2366466' first='Cooper' last='Strande'] | 6'0” G 2028 | Sioux Falls Christian | [program_tooltip program_id='2228190' first='Team' last='Warwick'] 14U - Warwick | Strande is the top guard in the 2028 class. A leader on the court, and he brings talent, energy, and effort to both sides of the ball. He's leading the state's #1 14U team. A legitimate two-way guard that can score all over the court and is a defensive stopper that has been shutting down good offensive players. He's a prospect that I'd love to see hit a growth spurt to the 6'2”-6'3” range.

He's one of the top 2028's because of his elite size at 6'7” for his age group. A kid we want to see grow to 6'10”-6'11” and become a sought-after prospect by college programs. Moves well and is a skilled and efficient finisher at the hoop. Not just a tall prospect, but one that is skilled and possesses a soft finishing touch.

Kutey is the best pure point guard in the South Dakota 2028 class. Such poise, skill, playmaking, and shot-making. An elite and composed handle on the ball. Elite passer and feel for the game. One of the top few three-point shooters in the 2028 class. I think he turns out to be a good one. The game comes easy to him.

Runs the floor hard, looking for easy buckets for his team. A strong rebounder that can easily high-point the ball over his shorter competition. He looks to rebound and makes it a point to be in rebounding position.

Well advanced in that area with his bulky build. A true post that can defend in the paint and is a scorer and finisher near the hoop. Fights for the ball and rebounds in the air, and will bring the ball down with power to secure it. He was playing with Mitchell's Sophomore team I did see as well. He's a prospect that will need to keep growing taller to get notable college programs highly interested.

Plays physical in the paint and will attack contact and power through it, offensively. Doesn't look like a kid that can shoot the three, but he's shown to be capable from there. Will catch the ball at the three-point line and straight-line drive hard at the hoop. An elite rebounder that crashes offensively and tracks the ball with effort for defensive boards. Can actually defend away from the hoop and has good lateral movement to defend on the perimeter. Overall, a beast in the paint with some versatility, with a heavy and consistent motor.

[program_tooltip program_id='2228190' first='Team' last='Warwick'] 14U - Hollenbeck does a good job of manufacturing open shots for Ellwein. Loves to catch-and-shoot in rhythm from three. A solid skill set, where he moves the ball and plays within the game on offense and takes open shots. An aggressive shooter but still takes good shots.

You can tell he's a little more advanced and developed physically than most of his peers at his position. A decent handle on the ball and a solid shooter. Does a good job attacking the rim and finishing when he gets there. Smooth in transition and will go with speed, momentum, and his frame to score at the hoop. Uses his frame well to be a great rebounding guard. Will take and hit jumpers, but needs to progress towards being more consistent. Will attack and kick to shooters, opening them up a lot of space for open shots. Moves well without the ball and spaces the floor well. Sees the floor well as a passer and makes plays that way. An anticipatory defender that is making plays on the ball.
