Sizzlin’ Summer Shootout: 2026s

It is one of my favorite events of the entire year and has been a June must-stop since before my Prep Hoops days. There were 32 teams in action across two division and 3 locations and it concluded with Boiling Springs High School claiming the Silver Bracket Crown and Oceanside Collegiate Academy claiming the Gold Bracket Crown. He was good scoring off the bounce getting to the rack or pulling up from his spots in the mid-range. Staley also showed his ability to read defenses with several dump-off passes when opposing defenders rotated his way. Talan has good positional size and length so when he fills out his frame he will have a really good body for a High School Guard. He has gelled quickly with his new teammates and has already developed some exciting chemistry with a couple of other Red Raiders. In the one game I saw of him this weekend at the Sizzlin' Summer Shootout, Coleman was much more aggressive in the second half, getting downhill, making some nice passes, and using his athleticism on both ends of the floor. The shots weren't falling like they normally do from the mid-range, so Caden adjusted by attacking the Powdersville rim. It was effective in collapsing the defense leaving shooters open for Caden to find. The Yellow Jackets have lots of guards on the June Roster, but Foster brings them perimeter shooting which is necessary to let some of their more ball-dominant scorers work. Jyssiah knocked down 5 3s between the two Greer games I watched this weekend including 3-6 3FG in the Gold Bracket Championship. [player_tooltip player_id='1679968' first='Ezekiel' last='Bell-Boyd'] was more of the playmaking and facilitating Point Guard. He is very quick and frequently beat his defender off the dribble, getting paint touches and collapsing the defense. Ezekiel displayed his vision with some nice bounce passes and racked up 4 Assists in the game. Bell-Boyd is also capable of scoring too and had some very tough buckets midway through the second half. He is more of a score-first guard, able to get to his spots and score from all three levels. Abrams also does a great job of seeking contact and earning trips to the free-throw line. He even had a couple of and-1 opportunities, displaying his ability to finish through contact. Johnston has good court vision and gets through small holes on his way to the basket. He has progressed well and should have an increased role this season due to some departures. He can fill the offensive role of and defensively guard multiple positions due to his size and mobility. When Landon gets two feet in the paint he can finish with either hand, through contact, or over defenders. He also rebounds well, can affect shots, and will read an opponent's pass to force steals. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
