The 2024 Adidas 3SSB Regular Season made its second stop this weekend in Birmingham, Alabama. Several of the Palmetto State’s top prospects were in attendance across all three divisions and multiple programs including Upward Stars, Atlanta Celtics South, and Team Loaded VA. Check out which prospects stood out from Saturday’s Games:
The Top Player in the State of South Carolina was in action on Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama for Session 2 of Adidas’ 3SSB Circuit. He had a strong 16-point performance to boost Upward Stars to a win over Phenom United. Jordan’s usage increased as the situation got tighter and he made multiple crucial plays down the stretch. He has a strong frame and can score off the dribble from close and mid-range. Watford also chipped into the rebounding effort, hauling in 5 boards.
Highlights
Brian is another 17 from Upward Stars whos had a standout performance against Phenom United. He got it done by making plays on both ends of the floor, using his length to affect shots and corralling loose balls for second-chance points. He also forced turnovers, racking up both a steal and a block to go with his 12 Points and 4 Rebounds. Arguably his most impressive attribute was his efficiency. Despite playing 28 minutes, he missed just 3 shots going 6-9 from the field. Sumpter’s two-way play was a massive reason why Upward got an important win on Saturday Night.
Lucas outworked almost everyone on the floor in Upward’s win over Phenom United. He used his length to clean up the glass on the offensive end and turn it into second-chance points. Wiersma is also a good defensive rebounder, and is capable of pushing the ball himself or throwing a long outlet pass. He was extremely active for the entire game and finished with 10 Points and 8 Rebounds.
Brandon had a very solid game to start the day for Upward Stars 15U. Ray showed his shooting ability by knocking down an early catch-and-shoot three from the corner. He is capable of making plays off the dribble, too. Ray has a good handle and vision, and can beat defenders off the bounce. Brandon can be trusted to play either position in the backcourt and also chipped in by forcing turnovers on the defensive end.
Highlights
Patterson is one of two 2027 Prospects who impressed on out-of-state programs on Saturday. Sequel runs with Team Loaded VA and has an important role. He shares the primary ball-handling duties and does a good job of balancing when to create and when to score. Against D1 Minnesota, he started strong on the offensive glass, earning extra opportunities for his offense. He flashed with a nasty crossover into an And-1 midway through the first half. Alongside his playmaking, Sequel brings good defensive pressure and speed in the open floor. He put up 11 Points, 5 Assists, 5 Rebounds, and 2 Steals in an afternoon win.
Jenkins is the other in-state prospect on an out-of-state team, and he plays with Atlanta Celtics South. Kmajay displayed his size, athleticism, and motor as he dominated Gamepoint and put up an 18-point 11-rebound double-double. He did a terrific job of staying aggressive on the offensive end and took over the scoring load for several possessions in a row. Kmajay also worked hard on the defensive end, too, deterring drives and even getting his hands on a couple of shots.
