Continue ReadingCBG and ETC came together in Richmond this past weekend to put on their Grassroots Tip-Off event, a one day showcase featuring some of the best teams in the DMV and throughout the state of VA.
Here’s a look at part one of the many 16U standouts from the event.
Yohance Connor | 6’2” CG | Team Loaded VA
Connor is quickly becoming one of the top prospects in the NC area in the 2026 class, as he picked up multiple high major offers after his play at the CBG Tip Off. The 6’2″ combo guard is an elite and explosive athlete who can put on a show in transition, but has a lot more to his game too. He has that “dog” in him as he competes hard on both ends of the floor, he can hit open shots when he’s left alone and he can turn defense into offense with his quick hands and anticipation.
Kosi Mgbejiofor | 6’9” C| Team Loaded VA
Mgebjiofor is already pretty well known across the country for his upside, and he’s continuing to show improvement in his consistency that should put him in the talks for national rankings moving forward. At 6’9” he moves unlike most people his size, as he’s a fluid athlete and an explosive leaper allowing him to make plays others simply can’t. He’s a very good rim runner and rim protector at this point, and he’s showing strides in his touch and timing that will make him an even better player moving forward.
Connor Lyons Connor Lyons 6'7" | PF St. Anne's-Belfield | 2026 State VA | 6’7” F | Team Loaded VA
Lyons played a pretty solid role for STAB on their way to the VISAA D1 State Championship, and he’s continuing to show improvement and tools that are intriguing at the next level. At 6’7” he provides a lot of floor spacing while playing multiple positions, making it very tough for teams to matchup with him. He showed his ability to knock down shots from deep while also being productive as a rebounder and working well from the elbows too.
Adam Oummidoch | 6’5” WF | Team Loaded VA
Oummidoch was highly regarded in the DMV area before deciding to head to OTE, and he continues to show he’s one of the top wings in the country with his upside. He looks the part from the beginning with his great size and smoothness to his game, and he continues to add to it every time we see him. He can play on or off the ball and is able to get open in both ways, he can knock down shots from multiple levels and he has great body control and always seems to be in the right place around the rim.
JJ Addison JJ Addison 6'5" | SF Frederick | 2026 State MD | 6’5” WF | Team Loaded VA
Addison at times gets overlooked on this Loaded team that is stacked with talent, but there’s no doubt he’ll be highly sought after when it’s all said and done. Coming off an All State season as a sophomore at Frederick, he is a versatile wing who can do a little bit of everything and impact the game across the board on both ends. He’s a plug and play guy who can guard multiple positions, he can score the ball efficiently from multiple positions and he is an unselfish playmaker as well.
Steven Aboky | 7’0” C | Cao City Ballerz
Aboky is one of the more underrated and unknown players in the Richmond area at the relatively new S3 Academy, and he has so much upside moving forward. He’s blessed with his blend of size and athleticism, and that makes him a major part of the game plan to go along with his big time upside moving forward. He is very mobile for his size with his ability to get up and down the floor, he showed his rim protection and rebounding ability and he has a good base skillset with his touch and hands already.
Tyrell Beverly | 6’6” F | Rare 1s
Beverly is one to keep an eye on in the 757 area, as the Norcom forward had a great season and continues to build on that in the spring so far. At 6’6″ he’s a natural athlete who looks comfortable both on the perimeter and in the paint, and he has that new school skillset that makes him very intriguing. He is a long and bouncy forward who can get above the rim relatively easily, he can switch and guard multiple positions and he can knock down shots off the catch when he’s left open.
