We are in the thick of Spring Basketball season, with several AAU teams having already participated in multiple events. This weekend local players are participating in tournaments all over the country. While making your list of tournament stops, here’s a look at some players you’re going to want to check out this weekend.
Badger serves as the perfect glue guy during the high school months. In Grassroots action you get to see a bit more of his athleticism and explosion. He usually runs with HWD, check Badger out, running with them this weekend, in LV Court Clash Action.
The Pit Bull guard is a staple of the Hard 2 Guard squad. Jones defends his tail off and can score a little bit. Watch how he operates with the ball in his hands this weekend, as the defender has good speed and quickness getting to the cup.
Gayle is another Hard to guard kid that you’re going to want to have him on your list of players to watch this weekend. He’s come a long way from a year ago, now the chiseled high flyer looks to make a name for himself as one of the potential up and coming stockrisers. in his class.
Taylor may be the toughest player in the state pound for pound. Vegas Elite is represented heavily this weekend, and the back to back state champ usually runs with them. He’s typecast as a glue guy, but don’t get it twisted the kid can score. Watch for him getting downhill and at the rim this weekend.
Hearns is a player with tons of talent. A transfer from Faith Lutheran a season ago, he performed well as a JV player for one of the state’s most talented teams. He has always played well when I’ve seen him during Grassroots action. This weekend I expect the Vegas Elite vet to perform no differently. Should lay eyes on him to see if the sharpshooter has added any height, or muscle to his frame.
Highlights
With the 2028 rankings fast approaching, watching a player like McMorran is imperative. The lefty is one of the most exciting players to hit the high school ranks in years, and he’s looking for a strong finish to his middle school career. He’s a starred player that is must watch for anyone putting together a 2028 rankings list in this state. He splits between the Punishers and Vegas Elite, so expect to catch him playing somewhere this weekend.
Carter is a player to get on the radar with the 2028 rankings fast approaching. The guard is an unselfish scorer that does a good job of getting others involved. He’s got some Dawg in him as well, which is exactly what you should expect to see on display, as his LV United squad is entered into the Big City Hoops event.
Another one of the Hardwork guys, Childress is poised for a big Spring. He’s a talented shooter with the ability to change the scoreboard coming off screens, pulling up or in catch and shoot action. Watch what he does on the defensive end, as he’s proven to be a crafty defender during his high school career.
