Continue ReadingAt the end of September we had 250 players to rank for the 2025 class and we are now at 275.
47 players are new and some have moved to different states, focused on different sports, and went into the 2026 or 2024 class.
Of the 47 new players, only 4 fell in the top-50 and only 10 were in the 100 and the other 33 fell in the top 275.
This means most of the players who were already tabbed as top players, kept their rankings for the most part. Some became stock risers and others did see their rankings drop.
Some had big numbers and some were waiting for the seniors on their team to graduate to find their groove. If players are talented but did not play for their HS teams often, their rankings probably dropped. Those are the ones I am keeping tabs on to see how they do next year. Will they breakout or level off?
Our goal at PrepHoopsAZ is to try and recognize anyone who may play college basketball. We will keep searching for new players in preseason camps/events/leagues/Prep Hoops Circuit, Arizona Top-250 EXPO, my personal Southwest Basketball Camp and during the AIA/CAA/OTE/NIBC/EIBC/Grind Session seasons.
1. 25 players have earned a D1 offer showing this class has talent to keep tabs on including Carlos Coronado Jr Carlos Coronado Jr 6'3" | PG Supreme Academy | 2025 State AZ .
2. There are also some others who may earn their first offers this upcoming season.
3. Only one player committed with the Jeremiah Fears Jeremiah Fears 6'1" | PG AZ Compass Prep | 2025 State #31 Nation AZ verbal to his hometown of Illinois.
4. Rankings are based on a lot of things. Production, size for position, college coaches, the eye test, ability to score and defend, instincts, IQ, how a player moves, speed, ball handling, shooting, fundamentals. length and possible upside. It is not the easiest thing to do since not all players play in the same leagues for AAU and HS. They can be in the CAA, Grind Session, EIBC, OTE and the AIA obviously has different levels. Plus AAU teams may play on National Circuits (3SSB, UAA and EYBL) or play on independent or up and coming circuits (Pangos, NxtPro, EYCL, UAA Rise, Prep Hoops, WCE, New Balance, The Stage and so on). So you put all that information together and create the rankings.
5. Of the 275 players we have 59 PG’s, 59 SG’s, 48 CG’s, 50 SF’s, 47 PF’s and only 12 C’s.
