Check out some of the top players from the Charlotte area who are still looking for their home at the collegiate level.
Watts is not originally from the area, but playing at Combine Academy gives him a right to be on this list. The athletic, physical combo guard has picked up multiple Division 1 offers over his time at Combine, but is still looking to make a final decision on his college home. He’ll bring a great scoring feel, college-ready frame, and an intense defensive work ethic to whatever team gives him a scholarship.
Patton is an explosive wing who knows how to put on a show with his high flying dunks and impressive athleticism. He’s got a quick first step and great burst in the open floor, and really likes space to maneuver into. He has a decent jumpshot, and can shoot the mid-range pull up off the dribble well. He has one offer from NAIA Voorhees already, and will look to explore all his options before committing.
Showalter has continued his impressive grassroots performances into high school play with Butler, scoring 22 PPG and being the frontrunner for conference player of the year. He has a variety of D2 and D3 offers, and should have a pick of very successful programs wherever he decides to go. He’s a long wing with three level scoring ability and an explosive, fiery game that makes him a fierce competitor in every game he plays in.
Highlights
Howard has been motoring along as he looks to pick his new collegiate spot next year. Concord is 10-4 in conference play, with Howard averaging 15 PPG, 10 RPG, and 2 BPG over the course of the season. He’s a physical post player who can move guys out of the way with great size and strength, while also protecting the rim with his length. He’s picked up a couple of D3 offers, and will probably commit to that level when all is said and done.
Mack is a big time scoring guard that would be an ideal fit for a JuCo or D3 program after being a standout for Hopewell all season long. As a secondary option in a high-octane offense, the 6’2 guard is averaging 13.8 PPG on 53/38/80 splits from the field, a very solid stat line that shows he can finish at the rim, behind the arc, or at the foul line. He is an underrated name to know, and the kind of teammate many programs would love to have.
Bridges is a dynamic shooter who could certainly be a part of a college program next year, knocking down 57 threes so far this season for Marvin Ridge. He’s been part of a dynamic playmaking trio that includes Joshua Clark and Brady Dunn Brady Dunn 5’10” | PG Marvin Ridge | 2025 State NC , and he embodies a shooting role. He runs off screens, spaces without the ball, and moves well on penetration, all of which help him get good looks for him to knock down.
