This was a little bit lighter of a Tuesday slate than normal as teams get back into their routine to begin the new year. However, we still had plenty cover from across the state. As we do throughout the week let's dive into a full recap of the night's action. Here is everything you need to know from the top games in Indiana on Tuesday night.

It shouldn't be shocking that the Westfield and Mt. Vernon (Fortville) game was played to a very low score. Both teams are methodical offensively and very sound defensively. However, this one was still lower scoring than anyone could have imagined. It was tied 6-6 after one quarter and the Marauders took a 19-12 lead into the locker room at the half. Then, Westfield began the second half on a 9-0 run to climb on top, but Mt. Vernon responded and led 28-25 after three quarters. 6'8" senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2079499' first='Nic' last='Book'] took over down the stretch scoring 10 of his game-high 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Shamrocks came away with a 41-30 victory. Book also had 5 assists. [player_tooltip player_id='1561435' first='Julien' last='Smith'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1539552' first='Tanner' last='Teschendorf'] each scored 10 points in the loss for the Marauders.

[player_tooltip player_id='1158215' first='Tucker' last='Day'] made his return to the hardwood on Tuesday night and ended up with the game-winning tip-in as Canterbury defeated Leo 67-65. The 6'7" senior forward finished with 23 points while senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1761696' first='Devon' last='Lewis'] added 16 points. Recent Grand Valley State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1272450' first='Jackson' last='McGee'] scored 35 points in the loss for the Lions.

Evansville Harrison defeated Evansville Mater Dei 79-49 on the back of 24 points from [player_tooltip player_id='1761697' first='Malachi' last='McNair']. Jay Summit added 18 points while [player_tooltip player_id='1578468' first='Shane' last='Sims'] had 15 points and [player_tooltip player_id='1539669' first='Brooks' last='Thomas'] chipped in 12 points. Zane Norman scored 18 points and Tanner Halbig finished with 15 for Mater Dei.

Class 2A #3 Providence beat Class 2A #7 Southwestern (Hanover) 55-42 with senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1287890' first='Noah' last='Lovan'] leading the way scoring 17 points. Jamison Miller scored 13 points in the loss for the Rebels.

Terre Haute North rolled to an 83-49 win over South Vermillion. Cam Fennell had 15 points, [player_tooltip player_id='1548652' first='Jack' last='Halls'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2053676' first='Bryce' last='Renn'] added 14 points, [player_tooltip player_id='1275782' first='Kavish' last='Reddy'] chipped in 12 points and [player_tooltip player_id='1561104' first='Gavin' last='Woelfle'] rounded out a balanced affair with 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1297010' first='Damien' last='King'] finished with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Anderson Indians past Pendleton Heights 53-50 in the first round of the Madison County Tournament. Christian Townsend added 15 points for Anderson. Meanwhile, recent Marian commit [player_tooltip player_id='1275772' first='Josiah' last='Gustin'] finished with 16 points and 4 assists for Pendleton Heights.

It took three overtimes, but Avon squeaked passed Brownsburg 57-56 to advance to the semifinals of the Hendricks County Tournament. [player_tooltip player_id='2485622' first='Rohan' last='Pearson'] hit the game-winning runner while driving down the right lane line with about three seconds to play in the third overtime period. Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561685' first='Jedidiah' last='Minnett'] scored 19 points to lead Avon while [player_tooltip player_id='1539455' first='DeAndre' last='Lott'] added 12 points and both [player_tooltip player_id='1539998' first='Rashod' last='Bethley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1297038' first='Isaac' last='Kramer'] had 8 points. The Orioles are now 8-3 on the season and will face Plainfield on Friday evening.
