Lutheran West is one of the last unbeatens in Ohio and they have a lot of upperclassmen making a big impact but I think Compton might have the most upside on the team. A big-time shooter from the wing who is a fluid mover for his size, Compton is a deadly shooter when given time and space. Compton also came to our 250 Expo in the Fall which initially got him on our radar. With more big games for the Longhorns including a sold-out game against Saint Ignatius on Saturday, I think Compton will be a bigger name in northeast Ohio by the time the playoffs come around.
Highlights
STVM is in a transition year with a lot of their top talent being younger pieces. They’ve played a tough schedule and appeared at multiple showcase events against top competition. I’ve been impressed with the consistency of Hamilton’s production this season. A high motor wing who really wants to attack downhill and run in transition. Also capable of hitting the occasional 3-pointer when given time and space, Hamilton has led the Irish in scoring a few times this season. While they might be down this season, Akron STVM is a team I expect to be back in the convo for top teams in northeast Ohio as soon as next season with the young pieces like Hamilton that should return.
New Albany has picked up some impressive wins this season and have a nice mix of senior and underclassmen talent on their roster. I thought Krylov played well at the Battle in the 740 in a win over Minford. A good shooter with his feet set, Krylov can also attack a closeout and makes good decisions during offensive advantages. A quick mover without the basketball, Krylov can make a pass then cut to make himself available for a layup due to his high IQ. I’ll be curious to track Krylov’s development as he continues to mature and develop physically.
