Playing against his old high school, Hamilton played with a chip on his shoulder on Friday night. Hamilton hit some tough 3-pointers with one off a step back, another deep pull-up and a transition 3-pointer where he beat the defense down the court. Despite battling an ankle injury during the second half, Hamilton provided tough defense on the ball and had some strong rebounds. An extremely talented and athletic wing, Hamilton is one of the top available 2026 prospects in Ohio and should be high on post grad and JUCO radars.

One of the biggest potential stock risers of the weekend, Hamilton certainly did not disappoint in an event opening win over Canton McKinley where his fingerprints were all over the game. An impressive shot maker, Hamilton made a handful of 3-pointers off the dribble and was shooting the basketball with a ton of confidence. The highlight of the game came when Hamilton jumped a passing lane and dunked on a defender in transition. Knocking down 3-point shots, playing above the rim, creating shots for yourself and others is a great combo to get recruited and I think Hamilton did himself a ton of favors on Friday.

Hamilton had a monster junior season for Akron Garfield where he scored the ball at an extremely high level. The junior wing has the shot-making, athleticism and energy to take over games with his scoring ability and more than a few times he did that. Maybe his biggest game of the season came in a road loss to Louisville where he scored 35 points on 7 made 3-pointers. I’ll be curious to see how Hamilton is viewed to college coaches this spring and summer as he has the talent to interest coaches from a variety of levels.

Rayshawn stood out for Phenom United’s 16U Group as a wing with a solid all-around game. He is a pest on the glass that crashes on both ends of the floor and hauled in several offensive rebounds which he turned into second-chance points. He is a very good finisher around the paint; with both hands, through contact, and around bigger defenders. Hamilton is also a good passer who has a good feel for defenses with the rock in his hands. He went for 11 Points, 4 Rebounds, and 4 Assists in a matchup with Upward Stars, but had his game ended due to an injury in the second half.

STVM is in a transition year with a lot of their top talent being younger pieces. They’ve played a tough schedule and appeared at multiple showcase events against top competition. I’ve been impressed with the consistency of Hamilton’s production this season. A high motor wing who really wants to attack downhill and run in transition. Also capable of hitting the occasional 3-pointer when given time and space, Hamilton has led the Irish in scoring a few times this season. While they might be down this season, Akron STVM is a team I expect to be back in the convo for top teams in northeast Ohio as soon as next season with the young pieces like Hamilton that should return.
