Note, we were not in attendance for the Miami East Vs Worthington Christian or Licking Heights @ Harvest Prep games so no standouts from those games will be included.
The first game of the day was one I was very excited for and it was very competitive until Maumee Valley Country Day pulled away in the fourth quarter. Stokes made some big time shots for a freshman guard, being confident when the ball was swung to him and knocking down the open looks. Despite being undersized, Stokes really competes on the defensive end as well. When you combine the talents of seniors Cj Majors and Amani Dickerson Amani Dickerson 6’3″ | SG Maumee Valley | 2024 State OH with some talented freshman like Stokes and Ty Lewis Ty Lewis 6’10” | C Maumee Valley Country Day | 2027 State OH , Maumee Valley Country Day has some nice talent to work with in Division IV this year.
Sylvania Northview pulled away in the third quarter from Columbus Beechcroft and got a comfortable win on Tuesday. Barnesky is a big time shooter who knocked down shots off the catch at a high clip. Moving well without the ball also put him in positions to hit mid-range jumpers against the zone defense. Northview moved the ball well and hit enough open shots to advance to 5-3 on the season.
Marysville was dominant against Columbus Centennial with multiple standout performers. Bowen is a high energy wing who makes hustle plays at both ends of the court. Whether it’s going after rebounds, loose balls or taking a charge, Bowden is going whatever it takes to win. Combine that with his ball handling and passing ability that allows him to be a central hub of the offense and he’s got the skills to be a valuable piece in the OAC.
Collins is settling in at his new school and doing what he does best, which is shoot the basketball. Collins had a couple scoop layups after getting to the rim and his most impressive bucket was a mid-range pull-up at the first half horn. Another impressive move Collins made to create space was a snatch back dribble to stop his momentum and send his defender flying. Combine that with his ‘in the gym’ range and Collins is one of the more talented guards in central Ohio’s 2025 class.
Reynald has been a standout both Gahanna games I’ve caught, having a breakout senior season. One of the fastest players in the state in the open court, Reynald is tough to keep pace with in transition. Able to finish with either hand at the rim, Reynald is a blur getting to the rim. Also a capable shooter from 3-point range, Reynald made the defense pay when they went under the ball screen. The cherry on top for Reynald’s performance was a breakaway slam dunk to help Gahanna pull away with an impressive victory.
