Happy New Year! Here at Prep Hoops Indiana we are excited to begin the new year with a brand new series that will run “daily” here on the website. Admittedly, I'm not going to promise you 365 consecutive editions of this series, but we will come as close as we can here in 2024. What will Prep Hoops Indiana Daily entail? Well, that will change from day to day. Sometimes it'll focus on under-the-radar prospects that deserve additional attentions. On other days it'll serve as a recap of a recent event or series of games that our staff covered. It can even be as simple as some big picture thoughts or answering questions from subscribers. However, regardless of the content, it'll have that special Prep Hoops Indiana touch of covering the entire state from border to border. We are excited to debut this new feature here in the new year! Today we will highlight five of the best games to follow on Tuesday evening.

Fort Wayne Canterbury @ Leo

Throw the record out of the door when Fort Wayne Canterbury takes the floor this evening. Despite being just 1-5 on the season, this Class 1A school played Class 2A Top 10 Bishop Luers and Blackhawk Christian within a combined six points in their last two outings. Now, the Cavaliers will add 6'7" senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1158215' first='Tucker' last='Day'] into the mix this evening for the first time. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1761696' first='Devon' last='Lewis'] has been carrying the load so far this season averaging 22.0 points per game. It'll be fun to watch Lewis battle with recent Grand Valley State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1272450' first='Jackson' last='McGee'] in the backcourt. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1578478' first='Trey' last='Hiteshew'] is one to watch for the Leo Lions as well.

Mount Vernon (Fortville) @ Westfield

The undefeated Shamrocks have only played one game since December 9th so it will be good to see them back out on the hardwood this evening. Senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1275749' first='Trey' last='Buchanan'], senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2079499' first='Nic' last='Book'], and company will host the young Mount Vernon (Fortville) Maraduers. [player_tooltip player_id='1728587' first='Luke' last='Ertel'] remains out of the lineup, but fellow sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='1561435' first='Julien' last='Smith'], [player_tooltip player_id='2252566' first='Elijah' last='Parra'], and R'Mani Wells have all had strong seasons in his absence. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1539552' first='Tanner' last='Teschendorf'] and senior [player_tooltip player_id='1295362' first='Brady' last='Fitzgerald'] are two more to watch for the Marauders in this one as well.

Pike @ Noblesville

Noblesville escaped with a 56-55 overtime victory over Crown Point to win their own holiday tournament last Wednesday to move to 8-1 on the season. The Millers only loss came by seven points at Fishers while they also have an impressive win over Crispus Attucks at the FORUM Tipoff Classic. Led by senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1158209' first='Aaron' last='Fine'] this group comes in ranked #5 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Class 4A poll and will take on a dangerous Pike team. The Red Devils have dropped five straight but still have plenty of talent to go around. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1560945' first='Dezhon' last='Hall'] is capable of taking over a game while classmate Terrencio Davis has been productive this season as well. 6'6" junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1539290' first='Titus' last='Hunter'] is a potential X-Factor for this group in the front court. He has the physical tools to guard a guy like [player_tooltip player_id='1275012' first='Hunter' last='Walston'] as well as anyone.

Providence @ Southwestern (Hanover)

For fans of southern Indiana basketball you've got a good Class 2A matchup this evening between #3 Providence and #7 Southwestern (Hanover). The Pioneers are 8-1 on the season having just won the Silver Creek Tournament which included defeating the Dragons 50-43 in the championship game. This is a battled-tested team led by senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1287890' first='Noah' last='Lovan'] who is having a huge season. Meanwhile, senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1761700' first='Jamison' last='Lewis'] leads the Rebels averaging 16.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. Southwestern is a balanced group as Peyton Cloud (15.2 ppg), [player_tooltip player_id='2399373' first='Brady' last='Cook'] (11.3 ppg), and [player_tooltip player_id='1528537' first='Landon' last='Kidwell'] (10.3 ppg) all average in double-figures as well.

Anderson @ Pendleton Heights

This will be a rematch of their November 21st matchup when Anderson won 47-38. Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1275772' first='Josiah' last='Gustin'] leads the Arabians averaging 12.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. His size and athleticism at 6'7" could be the difference if Pendleton Heights were to pull off the upset in the opening round of the Madison County Tournament. Junior wing Evan Mozigo and senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1457477' first='Seth' last='LaRavia'] are two more to watch for Pendleton Heights. As for Anderson, junior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1297010' first='Damien' last='King'] comes in averaging 22.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game for the 5-2 Indians.
