As the season begins the second half of the year, meaning league play begins and games begin to mean a lot more to teams. For this article, I will be taking a look into the 2A class and see which teams are sitting on top of each conference standings and which teams are potential favorites to play deep into the state tournament.

Central WA 2A Conference:

Grandview HS - RPI: 3 - Record: 13-3 (5-2) - This Grandview team plays so smoothly as a team. They know how to play off each other well and mesh well as a whole. They have losses against Zillah, Prosser, and Ellensburg, who are tough squads but they have taken down Mark Morris, Selah, and Tumwater. We will see if they can make a deep run being senior [player_tooltip player_id='1450579' first='Levi' last='Dorsett'] and juniors [player_tooltip player_id='1984500' first='Mavryk' last='Bentley'] and Titus Jeffery.

Prosser HS - RPI: 10 - Record: 11-6 (7-1) - Prosser has turned it on when league play started up, winning 7 of their first 8 league games. They have losses to Lakewood and WF West they wish they could get back, both games that were winnable. [player_tooltip player_id='1450574' first='Kory' last='McClure'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1451028' first='Koby' last='McClure'] are dynamic guards who play well with big [player_tooltip player_id='2819488' first='Landon' last='Bailey'].

East Valley (Yakima) HS - RPI: 12 - Record: 12-4 (4-4) - East Valley has dropped 2 games in a row to Grandview and Selah but are a talented team and are capable of playing with the top teams in the class. [player_tooltip player_id='1450987' first='Eli' last='Esquivel'] is a dynamic guard who scores the ball smoothly and knows how to be a leader for his team. I think East Valley will make a deep run this year.

Other Teams: Selah HS - 7-6 (3-3), Ephrata HS - 7-8 (3-3), Ellensburg HS - 4-8 (1-5), Othello HS - 5-8 (0-5)

Evergreen 2A Conference:

Tumwater HS - RPI: 31 - Record: 7-6 (5-1) - Tumwater has rattled off 3 straight wins in their last 3 games after suffering 3 losses right before that. They have had an up and down season but have maintained composure during league games. [player_tooltip player_id='1454915' first='Clay' last='Morgan'] is a wing who scores well and plays nicely with [player_tooltip player_id='1977240' first='Henry' last='Wilson'].

WF West HS - RPI: 29 - Record: 8-6 (5-1) - WF West has great talent and are a top team in the state when things are clicking. They have lost 3 in a row but are looking to get things back on track to finish the season strong. [player_tooltip player_id='1471162' first='Gage' last='Brumfield'] is a great guard who can play multiple positions and make big plays. [player_tooltip player_id='1612357' first='Parker' last='Eiswald'] is a difference maker for the team, he's a 6'7" wing who scores at all three levels at an elite level.

Other Teams: Shelton HS - 7-6 (4-1), Black Hills HS - 9-6 (5-2), Aberdeen HS - 5-9 (3-5), Centralia HS - 3-12 (1-6), Rochester HS - 2-12 (0-7)

Greater Spokane League 2A:

Pullman HS - RPI: 15 - Record: 9-4 (3-0) - Pullman is definitely a top in the 2A class year in and year out, always having talent on their roster. [player_tooltip player_id='1612189' first='Champ' last='Powaukee'] is just an insane athlete. He jumps out of the gym and finishes at the rim nicely. [player_tooltip player_id='1984479' first='Daniel' last='Kwon'] is a wing who scores off the catch or off the dribble efficently.

West Valley (Spokane) HS - RPI: 2 - Record: 12-1 (2-1) - West Valley is a very consistent team that plays well disciplined. They score roughly 60 points a game and normally win games by double digits. They recently lost a close one to Rogers HS and have a highly anticipated matchup against Pullman coming soon.

Other Teams: Rogers (Spokane) HS - 8-2 (2-0), Shadle Park HS - 6-7 (1-2), Clarkston HS - 6-6 (0-2), East Valley (Spokane) - 3-10 (0-3)

Greater St Helens 2A Conference:

Mark Morris HS - RPI: 20 - Record: 8-5 (7-1) - Mark Morris lost a couple early non-conference in the season but have turned it on and clicked as a team during league play. [player_tooltip player_id='1450497' first='Braydon' last='Olson'] is a dynamic wing who scores the ball so smoothly. He knows how to put the ball in the bucket and carry his team to the win.

Ridgefield HS - RPI: 16 - Record: 9-4 (7-2) - Ridgefield lost 2 of their first 3 conference games but turned it on by winning the next 4 and even beating a tough RA Long team. They played in a tough holiday tournament, losing 2 out of 3 games but almost beating a tough Kelso team. They have another matchup against RA Long and Mark Morris later this season.

RA Long HS - RPI: 13 - Record: 10-3 (6-3) - RA Long is a team I am on the fence about if they will be able to take make a deep run. They have talent on their roster lead by [player_tooltip player_id='1463082' first='Lonnie' last='Brown Jr'], a guard who scores well and knows how to find his teammates. TraMayne Jenkins is quick with the ball in his hands and runs the court in transition at a high level.

Other Teams: Columbia River HS - 7-3 (6-2), Hockinson HS - 7-7 (5-4), Washougal HS - 4-8 (3-5), Woodland HS - 4-10 (2-7), Fort Vancouver - 4-10 (2-7), Hudson's Bay HS - 4-10 (0-8)
