Expert Analysis
Devin Record | Prep Hoops Scout
Koby is a bucket-getter and there is no other way to get it. If Prosser needs a bucket, Koby is their go-to guy. He can create for himself and hit mid-range shots easily while also being able to attack the bucket and finish through traffic. He uses his length well on the defensive side of the ball, getting involved in the passing lanes often to cause deflections.

Koby is Prosser’s all time leading scorer and has been on a tear all season. He claimed his conference MVP and showed why he deserved it with 33 points in a big win against Grandview. McClure knows how to get to the free throw line nicely, getting calls to go his way and knocking down the free throws after. He scores from all 3 levels and knows how to elevates his teammates games on the court too.

If it wasn’t already known before, Koby can put the ball in the bucket with ease. He recently become the all-time leading scorer at Prosser, which has a great basketball history. When he finds his groove from deep, he won’t miss even with hands in his face. McClure creates off the dribble well too, getting to the bucket easily or finding an open teammate.

He had a big game against Zillah to lead his team to the win with 33 points. He did a great job reading how the defense wanted to contain him, finding some rhythm with perimeter shots at times, finding space along the baselines and working back middle, and later even taking his defender to the post for several buckets. He’s just a crafty kid who showed the ability to slow the game down and get to his spots.

McClure is an interesting guard who doesn’t really thrive from 3-point range but is one of the craftiest players in the midrange and in. First, he sets up everything with his ability to knock down shots from various angles in the midrange. Second, he always has his eyes up and can shift defenders with his focus, then pairs that with some good shiftiness and hesitations to open up driving lanes. He reads the game exceptionally well and has the poise/control to switch up speeds and play with ball fakes and pivots which help him thrive in congested areas.

McClure is just a natural playmaker. He’s really fluid operating through traffic, getting to the hoop, scoring in the mid-range, and has great awareness of where his guys are while working between defenders. He was key to helping Prosser come out on top in a close league game against East Valley last week.

A determined playmaker, McClure is the type of player that can takeover in crunch time with his scoring and passing. He gets into dangerous spots and has the touch and vision to take advantage of however the defense reacts. Prosser emerged as one of the top teams in 2A last season and McClure should keep them rolling into this year.

McClure is a tough kid who shined as a key playmaker in big moments at the showcase. His ability to create off the dribble and towards the hoop had a tendency to mesmerize off-ball defenders who were more focused on preparing to help then sticking to their man. This ability to get to the rim helped create passing lanes for McClure who has the vision and skill to zip balls into tight passing windows. When the defense didn’t help, McClure got all the way to the rim and showed off a variety of finishes.

McClure was able to get to his spots and create all afternoon and through the evening. And although he was off and on with his finishing early in the day, he came alive and took over later in the showcase. His playmaking ability was evident throughout the event, using his quickness to consistently get penetration and shift the focus of the defense. Later on, he showed that alpha mentality and took the ball to the rack himself time and again in crunch time.
