Lonnie Brown Jr
About Lonnie
Expert Analysis
Devin Record | Prep Hoops Scout
Lonnie is a lengthy wing who can play the guard position as well. He handles the ball well and gets to his midrange shots smoothly. He has improved quite a bit since last season, having a much more complete overall game. He has taken over the leadership role for the team and has done an amazing job at helping the younger guys. I expect to see even more growth from Brown throughout the remaining part of the season.

RA Long had a phenomenal season this year and Lonnie grew his game in a great way. He attacks the ball well, using his quick first step to his advantage. He hits the deep ball off the catch very well. This summer he will have the opportunity to have the ball in his hands more, which could lead to Brown evolving his game in a big way.

Lonnie’s game evolved a lot over the summer and continued to do so during this season. He attacks the ball well and finishes through traffic efficiently. He rebounds well and brings a ton of good energy to the court. He hits his shots from deep too. With Holden graduating, Brown should have a huge senior year.

Lonnie played a big role on a RA Long team that went to the state tournament and he was only a sophomore. Now with a summer of growing his body and his game, he’s ready for a breakout junior year. With the team looking for a new first option, Brown JR might just be that choice. He shoots the three very. very well. His catch and release is so quick that most defenders don’t have the time to get a hand in his face. It will be interesting to see how much his game has expanded since last season.

I’ve seen tremendous growth in Lonnie’s game just over the summer. He has great length with long arms, helping him quite a bit on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively, he attacks the rim nicely and finished very well at the rim. His first step is quick, but his length is what helps him create space and get to the rim smoother. He has a good jump shot, hitting shots with ease when given space. He’s poised for a breakout year for RA Long.
