If you just look at his scoring total from Friday night, it may not stand out, but Anthony played the role of CDH’s floor general very well to lead them to a big win. He was excellent penetrating and getting into the lane where he was constantly scanning the floor and able to find an open teammate. Had a few flashy dump off passes to his forwards at the rim, and also made the simple passes to hit his shooters on the perimeter. Handled the ball under pressure with ease, while applying constant pressure to opposing ball handlers going the opposite way. Forced a couple of tie-ups and had a big block as the shot clock was expiring to help his team pick up a stop. Finished with a game high 6 assists in the win.

Miles has just been so consistent for CDH over the past couple of seasons. Against Roseville he scored an efficient 14 points on 6-8 shooting, showcasing his ability to knock down jumpers from mid-range and three. If he gets the chance to take one dribble into a pull-up jumper, he’s not going to miss very often. On the defensive end he seemed to be in multiple places at once as he was constantly putting himself into position to make steals or get a hand on a pass. He just works hard and has great defensive instincts to force turnovers. Finished with 6 steals on the night.
There aren’t many forwards in the state who can match Monteff’s level of physicality. If he catches on the block, he’s going to power his way to the basket knowing there isn’t much opposing defenders can do to stop him. He’ll have to work on his touch a bit as he does miss some chances he’d be expected to make, but I like how hard he works to come up with his own offensive boards and go right back up with it. I thought he did a nice job of catching in the high post and finding some open shooters with quick passes as well. Defensively he set the tone early with a big swat, and for the rest of the game there was some hesitancy from Roseville players to shoot when Monteff was nearby. Dixon ended the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Minneapolis Washburn continued their strong start to the season, and this past game it was Kyle Jorgensen Kyle Jorgensen 6’9″ | C Minneapolis Washburn | 2024 State #308 Nation MN ‘s 24 points leading the way. He set the tone early with a strong finish in the paint, and from there he was constantly looking to get the ball on the block and go to work. Missed a few chances I’m sure he’d like to get back, but his footwork, strength, and ability to turn over either shoulder allowed him to get high percentage looks just about any time he touched the ball near the block. Showed his ability to create off the dribble at 6’9 as well, and had some nice passes off the dribble as the SLP defense was forced to step in with multiple defenders to stop him.
Will may get overshadowed at times playing for a loaded Totino-Grace team, but he stepped up when his team needed him most. Trailing for most of the game, it was Will Brands Will Brands 6’4″ | PF Totino-Grace | 2024 State MN who came up with key buckets down the stretch to give his team the win over BSM. He knocked down a corner three to give his team the lead, and the next possession he finished at the rim to put the game out of reach for good. Brands is someone who will do whatever is needed of him to help his team win. He can defend bigger than his size, works hard to box out and pull in boards, and doesn’t waste possession with mistakes/bad shots.
Highlights
BSM was rolling in the first half, and Tyler was a big reason why Totino-Grace was able to stay in the game during the early stages. He knocked down a number of deep threes, and was doing so with confidence and a quick release off the catch. At 6’5-6’6 he does a great job of quickly getting his feet set and squared up to the rim off the move, allowing him to quickly get a shot off when the chance arrives. He finished with 16 points in the hard fought win.
Jayden was coming up with big plays on both ends against one of the state’s top teams on Saturday. In the first half he just couldn’t seem to miss, as he was knocking down shots from three as well as hitting his signature mid-range jumper. He’s always had the mid-range pull-up game, but this season he’s stood out with his confidence and improvement as a three point shooter as well. With how high he elevates on his shot, it’s very difficult for defenders to contest at the high school level. On the defensive end he’s a tenacious on-ball defender, and has the combination of size, quickness, and effort to shut opposing players down. Used his timing to rise up and block a pair of jump shots. BSM came up just short against Totino-Grace, but Jayden impressed with his play.
