Continue ReadingWith teams on a hiatus during the holiday break, let’s check in on the statistical leaders in each category in each class to get a better feel for who some of the most productive players in the state have been so far this season. Leaders for this article are from whatever has been input into Bound as of 12/26 at 10:30 am. (Minimum 2 3PA per game played.)
1.) 2024 Tate Neymeyer (Aplington-Parkersburg) – 63.6% (14/22)
A 6-0 guard who has stepped up and become a solid role player for the Falcons as a senior, Neymeyer is averaging 8.1 points, 1.2 assists, and 1.6 steals a game while scoring at a highly efficient clip, posting 63-64-71 shooting splits. He’s an off-ball guard with a quick release and plenty of range.
2.) 2026 Will Hayes Will Hayes 6'4" | PF Central Lee | 2026 State IA (Central Lee) – 61.9% (13/21)
Hayes has been really, really good for the Hawks so far this season, using his 6-5 frame to shoot over the defense. He’s scoring at an extremely efficient clip, shooting 63% from the floor and 62% from deep while averaging 13.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks a game.
3.) 2024 Tysen Devries Tysen Devries 5'9" | PG Pella Christian | 2024 State IA (Pella Christian) – 58.1% (18/31)
A quick guard who has been one of the best players in 2A for the last few years, De Vries loves to play downhill and use his speed and toughness to finish at the bucket, but he’s shooting it better than he ever has from deep to open the year as well, which makes him an even more deadly offensive weapon. He’s averaging 14.4 points and 3.7 assists on 54-58-88 shooting.
4.) 2024 Holden Arnaman Holden Arnaman 6'3" | PG West Branch | 2024 State IA (West Branch) – 56.2% (41/73)
Arnaman, a future Minnesota State Mankato guard, has been simply ridiculous to open the season for the Bears, averaging 23.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists a game on incredibly efficient shooting. He leads the state in made 3-pointers, and these aren’t easy shots he’s knocking down, either.
5.) 2025 Carson Kanne Carson Kanne 5'11" | PG Kuemper Catholic | 2025 State IA (Kuemper Catholic) – 55.0% (11/20)
Kanne is a diminutive, pass-first guard for the Knights, but he has become a more assertive scoring threat this season as well, averaging 10.9 points and 4.9 assists on 54-55-90 splits. He has a pure stroke and shoots it really well off the dribble.
6.) 2024 Tanner Michael Tanner Michael 6'0" | PG Hudson | 2024 State IA (Hudson) – 53.6% (15/28)
Michael transferred to the Pirates from Independence and has given them a reliable ball-handler and a quick guard in the backcourt who can get to the rim. But he has also been a dynamic shooting threat, helping space the floor for their other extremely talented offensive weapons. He shoots it equally well off the dribble and the catch, and is doing a little bit of everything for one of 2A’s best teams. He’s averaging 10.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists a game.
7.) 2026 Vinny Sebastian (Woodward-Granger) – 53.5% (23/43)
Sebastian is small, listed at 5-7, and is the definition of a 3-point specialist, with 79% of his field goal attempts coming from behind the arc so far this season. He shoots it really well off the catch and moves well without the ball in his hands.
8.) 2025 Carson Lambert Carson Lambert 6'3" | SF Monticello | 2025 State IA (Monticello) – 51.4% (19/37)
A long 6-3 wing who has turned himself into one of the better two-way players in the class, Lambert is playing at a really high level early this season for the Panthers, averaging 13.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.3 steals while posting 52-51-59 shooting splits. He’s a lefty with a pure stroke and a quick release off the catch.
9.) 2027 Jake Wegmann Jake Wegmann 6'1" | SG Beckman Catholic | 2027 State IA (Beckman Catholic) – 50.0% (16/32)
A 6-2 freshman who may be the best great player to come through Beckman, Wegmann is averaging 8.1 points and scoring at a really efficient clip, shooting nearly 53% from the floor through his first 10 games. He can score off the dribble and the catch, and has done a nice job contributing on the glass on both ends of the floor.
10.) 2025 Caleb Moore Caleb Moore 5'11" | PG Van Meter | 2025 State IA (Van Meter) – 50.0% (9/18)
A guard who prefers to play downhill and attack the rim, using his quickness and toughness to finish at the bucket, Moore is averaging 14.6 points and 3.4 assists a game for the Bulldogs. While he certainly prefers to do his damage at the rim, he’s shooting it really well from the arc to open the season as well.
