Tuesday’s Games to Watch
In this article:
GRAFTON (4-1) at Nicolet (2-2)
Prep Hoops Wisconsin will be on hand to check out this early season clash in the North Shore Conference.
Nicolet is coming back to the Badger State after a trip to Maryland where they played two high-level contests. Our preseason favorite in Division 2, the Knights are 2-0 in league play with resounding wins over West Bend West and Hartford. The top ranked junior in the state, Davion Hannah Davion Hannah 6'5" | SF Nicolet | 2025 State #33 Nation WI , has been as good as advertised thus far, averaging 24 points per game.
After being swept by Nicolet last season, Grafton will have revenge on its mind Tuesday. North Michigan commit Michael McNabb Michael McNabb 6'4" | CG Grafton | 2024 State WI is off to a fantastic start to his senior season, posting 29 ppg. His running mate, junior Juan Guerrero Hernandez Juan Guerrero Hernandez 6'3" | CG Grafton | 2025 State #189 Nation WI has also shined, averaging 20 points per contest.
Highlights
Dominican (6-0) at St. Thomas More (4-0)
These are two loaded squads and Tuesday’s game will certainly help decide the Metro Classic Conference race.
Dominican hasn’t been touched during its 6-0 start. The Knights have hit 100 points or more in four of those games and have an average margin of victory of 46.6 points. In fact, no team thus far has gotten within 38 points of Aaron Womack Aaron Womack 6'3" | SF Dominican | 2025 State #228 Nation WI (22.8 ppg), Jaiden Martin Jaiden Martin 6'1" | CG Dominican | 2024 State WI (22.0 ppg), Markel Webb Markel Webb 6'2" | SG Dominican | 2024 State WI (14.8 ppg), Derrick Johnson Derrick Johnson 6'3" | CG Dominican | 2024 State WI (13.5 ppg), and company.
It’s a safe bet that St. Thomas More will give Dominican more of a challenge. The Cavaliers have been tested a few times this season, knocking off Carmen Northwest, The Prairie School, and Martin Luther. Arguably the best frontcourt in the state, STM is headlined by Sekou Konneh Sekou Konneh 6'6" | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State WI (25.0 ppg) and Amari McCottry Amari McCottry 6'5" | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State #304 Nation WI (21.0 ppg).
Sussex Hamilton (4-0) at Marquette (3-0)
Two of the three 2022-23 co-champions in the Greater Metro Conference square off in this one.
Sussex Hamilton might be a surprise team in the Greater Metro. The Chargers were 20-6 a year ago and won a share of the league title, but had to replace leading scorer Luther Smith, now at Southern Indiana. Hamilton has cruised to a 4-0 start, winning all four in landslide fashion. As expected, senior guard Aidan Konop Aidan Konop 6'2" | SG Sussex Hamilton | 2024 State WI (16.8 ppg) is taking the reins and running with them.
A favorite to compete for the Division 1 state title, Marquette has been a little shaky thus far, hanging for wins against Brookfield Central and Catholic Memorial. However, the Hilltoppers are missing senior guard Ryan Meehan Ryan Meehan 6'2" | SG Marquette | 2024 State WI , a double-figure scorer from last season. St. Thomas commit Nolan Minessale Nolan Minessale 6'5" | SF Marquette | 2024 State WI (22.7 ppg), junior guard Jeremiah Johnson Jeremiah Johnson 6'3" | SG Marquette | 2025 State WI (12.7 ppg), and senior guard T.J. Adams T.J. Adams 6'2" | CG Marquette | 2024 State WI (11.3 ppg) are enough to keep this group humming.
Xavier (5-0) at West De Pere (3-1)
Title implications are on the line in the Bay Conference on Tuesday.
No matter who they lose, Xavier just keeps on winning. No Alex Sherwood (St. Leo)? No problem thus far for the Hawks, who have blown out four of their five opponents. Senior guard Hayden Quimby Hayden Quimby 6'1" | CG Xavier | 2024 WI (14.2 ppg) is having a breakout season for Xavier. The straw that stirs the drink is still senior guard Sam Pfefferle Sam Pfefferle 6'2" | PG Xavier | 2024 State WI . One of the top facilitators in the state, Pfefferle is dishing out six assists per game.
If they didn’t have to face crosstown rival De Pere, the strong favorite in Division 1, West De Pere might be unbeaten right now. A couple guys have come out of nowhere for the Phantoms, including junior guard Bryce Borowicz Bryce Borowicz 6'0" West De Pere | 2025 WI , who’s putting up nearly 19 points per game. Freshman Tref Rademaker Tref Rademaker 6'8" | PF West De Pere | 2027 State WI (9.9 ppg) is a youngster to know as well and should be among the state’s top class of 2027 prospects.
