One of the most skilled guards in Columbus, McClure is the definition of a bucket. Able to create his own shot off the bounce and use crossovers to create space. A tough shot maker from the mid-range as well, McClure gets to his spots and can score efficiently. Leading his team to a win to open the day, I was impressed with McClure’s scoring ability. For him to take that next step as a prospect, finding ways to impact the game without scoring could elevate his game to the next level.
Knocking down a buzzer-beater 3-pointer to end the first and second quarters, Pollard is a knockdown shooter from the wing guard position. Harvest Prep has a deep team with a lot of contributors, but Pollard is maybe their most intriguing long-term prospect considering his age, frame and current production. Playing a complimentary role as a 3-and-D wing, I’ll be curious to see how Pollard’s game expands during the summer heading into his Sophomore season.
After a slow start, Richmond Heights has their swagger back and secured two huge victories over Division I powerhouses Saint Ignatius and Pickerington Central this weekend. Jones played very engaged with a handful of blocks, including two in a 5 second span from one side of the rim to the other. Knocking down a handful of 3-pointers off the catch and bounce, when Jones gets out in transition the defense had an impossible time picking whether to take away the drive or the pull-up jumper. A top 50 national prospect, Jones continues to elevate his game each season.
Ellis had the play of the day when he made a four-point play with three seconds left to give Saint Ignatius the lead 98-97 over Reynoldsburg in a game of the year type contest. Even before this shot, Ellis was making plays left and right for his team, knocking down shots off the catch and making some confident plays off the bounce. By making plays all game, Ellis put himself in a position to win the game at the end and made as clutch of a shot that you’ll see all season. These two teams are near the top of Ohio’s Division I rankings and both teams will hope a rematch is in store in Dayton in March.
The final game of the night didn’t disappoint as stars Kropp and Arness Lawson Arness Lawson 6’1″ | PG Pickerington North | 2025 State #306 Nation OH went back and forth showing why they are two of Ohio’s top 2025 prospects. Kropp is so skilled with the ball in his hands and able to score with his back to the basket at will. When the double team comes, Kropp is skilled enough to find the open teammate to knock down a perimeter shot. Currently being pursued by a handful of mid-major programs, look for Kropp’s recruitment to really take shape this spring.
