UAA Finals: Friday 15/17 U Standouts

I attended the UAA Finals in Louisville and in this article I'll break down my 15 and 17 U standouts from Friday's action.

A dominant center, Lushiku was the main force behind Utah Mountain Stars ending a huge winning streak for Nova Village 15 U in July as bracket play continued. Lushiku had a spin move that led to a dunk early that set the tone for the game and continued to dominate for the rest of the game. Lushiku did a nice job of catching high passes and keeping them high to finish over shorter defenders in the paint. That high release also allowed him to finish through contact happening in lower parts of his body to finish and-1 layups in the paint. Just simply too big, too strong and skilled enough to hurt you in the paint, Lushiku looks like a top 2029 big on the UAA circuit.

Despite the tough loss, July has been very kind to the Nova Village 15 U group as they've hit their stride and strung together back-to-back weekends of quality performances. I was really impressed with Schaefer offensively as he was involved with over half of Nova's points on Friday Vs Utah Mountain Stars. Schaefer made some tough dribble moves to get to the paint and is a crafty finisher at the rim. Even though he didn't finish every opportunity at the rim, Schaefer got good looks and was confident when attacking shot blockers at the basket. That level of aggression off the dribble was a welcome surprise as I had already seen Schaefer light it up from 3-point range before and he knocked down another pair of 3-pointers on Friday. Talented scoring guard in the class of 2029 who should be an impact player in the GCL South next season.

An overtime contest between the Nashville Stars and Nova Village saw Anuskevicius knock down a clutch 3-pointer to break a tie with one minute left. A talented perimeter shot maker, Anuskevicius hit some fallaway jumpers over smaller defenders and spaced the floor well for a short-handed Nashville Stars group. The Baylor School product has picked things up in July and could see an increase to his recruitment off his performances this weekend.

Now playing with the top Nova Village group, Moore did a lot of the things I've liked seeing him do with Pickerington Central at the shoe circuit level. Moore competed defensively and scored in transition off his own steals and defensive rebounds, also making simple outlet passes to teammates ahead of him on the court. Also a capable set shooter, Moore knocked down a pair of triples in the game I caught and with his wingspan and defensive upside, his ability to also knock down shots should give him opportunities to see the floor early in his college career.

One of the top shooters in Kentucky's 2027 class, O'Hara has certainly boosted his stock since joining Griffin Elite as he had multiple games with five 3-pointers down in Atlanta and was making it rain in Louisville this weekend as well. With range well beyond the 3-point line, O'Hara extends the floor and allows the slashers and bigs to have space to operate in the paint. After a strong junior season for Pendleton County, I'd expect even bigger things for O'Hara as a senior as his confidence seems to be through the roof right now.
