What’s always coveted by college coaches is shooting, and we’ve seen some guys become snipers in terms of accuracy and volume. Read below for a half dozen guys that have caught my eye as some top shooters around the state.
Boyce has been off to a torrid start to his senior year with UFCA, making 39 three pointers at a 52% clip. He’s been looking to mostly shoot the deep ball instead of driving it to the rim, but he’s been a nice scorer and shooter alongside JD Bowden JD Bowden 6’1″ | PG United Faith Christian Academy | 2025 State NC . He’s got great confidence right now, and should look to continue to impress in his senior season.
Shaw is a long, thin guard that has knocked down 32 threes over NCA’s first 8 games, converting 41% of the time. He’s shifty and can move laterally with the ball in his hands in order to create his own shot, or shoot off the catch. He’s got offers from Pfeiffer and Lees-McRae already, and should see more as his senior year goes along.
Jones has been one of the biggest surprises of the young season, and the combo guard has shown his ability to fill it up from deep as well. He’s made 28 threes in 6 games while averaging over 29 PPG, and shown a revamped ability to score the ball wherever he chooses. As the Demons gear up to be one of the better teams in the Triad area, look for Jones to continue his torrid start to the year.
This is a new kid that’s hitting the block this year, but Loftin has wasted no time showing off his shooting prowess. 28 threes in 8 games, hitting at a 47% rate means the kid can really shoot. He’s a floor general who has no problem pulling up and shooting or making the next pass. He’s got a lot of basketball ahead of him, but it’s exciting to see a freshman play with such impressive skill.
Rochelle has made an impression to start the year at NLCA (Fayetteville), hitting 30 threes on the young season. He’s been more selective with his volume than others on this list, but that also comes with a 60% hit rate on those shots. He’s been a key piece for his group, and recently picked up an offer from NC Wesleyan. It should be an exciting senior season for him as he continues to perform at a high level and hopefully receive a few more scholarship offers.
Rechetnikov is a kid we’ve mentioned time and time again, but he undoubtedly is a top shooter in the state. He’s made 28 threes at a 47% clip, and knows how to really space the floor and stay composed to knock down the open shot. He’s got legitimate size and length to play on the wing as well. While there aren’t any scholarship offers available to him yet, some should be coming very soon with his ability to shoot it.
