Kyrell Shaw Kyrell Shaw 6'4" | SG Northside Christian | 2024 State NC is another prospect on the wing who’s shown with his length and athleticism, he can make teams pay with his shooting ability. He led Northside Christian Academy this season with 19.6 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 1.6 SPG and 1.5 APG as an all-around presence who can operate at the guard and small forward/wing role. He led the way in 3-pointers made on the year with 92 with the Knights, ranking 12 in the state of North Carolina, according to MaxPreps. He’ll join his brother, KC, at Winston-Salem State with his recent commitment to the Rams in the CIAA.

Shaw has been a leading name in the Northside Christian Academy with his ability to lead by example. He’s an efficient scoring who has shown he can get hot in a hurry as the Knights are off to a 17-7 start in the NCISAA ranks. He’s producing 20.5 PPG on 53 percent shooting from the field along with 3.7 RPG, 1.5 SPG and 1.4 APG. He’s a name for DII programs in the region to get to know.

Shaw continues to knock down shots from the perimeter and lead his team to victories, averaging 25 PPG as Northside Christian went 2-0 on the week. He’s a great shot maker and taker, with parking lot range and an ability to shoot it on the catch or on the move. His frame is good at his height, but he’ll need to put on some weight at the college level. He should still be a priority for D2 coaches over the next few months.

He’s knocked down 10 3-pointers including a 5-for-8 effort against Gaston Day School to kick off the month of December. Since coming off back-to-back losses, he’s looked to play his role as a scorer with a more efficient outlook. He’s producing 19.2 PPG on 55 percent shooting from the floor and 41 percent from deep through 10 games for the the Knights. DI and DII programs in the region should get eyes on him. They’ve got Cannon School on Tuesday and Lake Norman Christian on Thursday.

Shaw is a long, thin guard that has knocked down 32 threes over NCA’s first 8 games, converting 41% of the time. He’s shifty and can move laterally with the ball in his hands in order to create his own shot, or shoot off the catch. He’s got offers from Pfeiffer and Lees-McRae already, and should see more as his senior year goes along.

In my opinion, Kyrell stands out as one of the premier sharpshooters in the state. He excels not only as a catch-and-shoot specialist but also demonstrates the ability to create his own scoring opportunities off the dribble. His proficiency in scoring coming off screens is noteworthy, and he’s steadily evolving as a defender, with the versatility to guard multiple positions on the perimeter. With continued physical development and defensive improvements, this young senior is poised to become a dominant force on both ends of the court and play a pivotal role in Northside Christian’s quest to repeat as State Champions.

Kyrell Shaw Kyrell Shaw 6'4" | SG Northside Christian | 2024 State NC was quite a name to know this past grassroots cycle with PSB Elite given his prowess shooting the ball on the perimeter. He’s a capable 6-foot-2 guard that can get going in a hurry in the backcourt. Shaw returns to the Northside Christian Academy fold looking to do even more damage as defending NCISAA 1A State Champions. Shaw put up 15.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.0 apg and 1.6 spg on 55 percent shooting from the field and 52 percent from behind the arc. He knocked down 100 3-pointers in 2022-23. He’s a prospect for DI and DII programs in the region to get to know given his shooting prowess.

Shaw was a standout for PSB Kisonas, looking to have grown a bit more into a thin, 6’4 frame who is a true combo guard. He shoots the ball well from the perimeter and with his body control makes things happen in the mid-range and paint area. He controls himself well and absorbs the bumps in order to get to his spots, a necessary skill for someone not as strong from appearance. Also a good playmaker and is consistent in making a good read, and has good vision with his size. Defensively he can impact things with his arms, but is still progressing in what he brings on that end. D2s and D3s will end up being involved with this guy who can shoot it really well.

He’s set to have a breakout campaign of sorts after leading the way for NCA in 2022-23 with 15.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.2 apg and 1.6 spg on 55 percent shooting from the field and 52 percent shooting from 3-point range as a junior. He’s had himself a busy spring already shining for PSB Elite Larkin on the grassroots stage.

He’s another sharpshooting name to get to know inside NC’s Top 100 that gets after it with his shooting ability. He’s a prospect that knows how to fill the stat sheet up as a rebounding threat and playmaker just as much as a scorer. Colleges in the region should get eyes on him soon!
