Green Level High is off to a 5-0 start to their season and an early favorite in the Southeast Wake Athletic Conference in the 4A ranks. Point guard Leon Tye Cain III Leon Tye Cain III 5’10” | PG Green Level | 2024 State NC has his unit playing well as he leads the charge with 4.0 APG along with 12.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG and 2.0 SPG. Cain has really improved on his strength in the weight room and it’s shown in his overall production on the floor on any given night. He’s due to climb up the PrepHoops radar as he’s one reason the Gators are off to a hot start. DII and DIII programs in the region should get eyes on him.
Highlights
Quasim Oden Quasim Oden 6’1″ | PG GRACE Christian | 2024 State NC remains an underrecruited combo guard in the Grace Christian School backcourt. He’s leading his team in scoring (16.6 PPG) and assists (3.6 APG) while also averaging 3.8 RPG and 1.8 SPG for the Eagles, who’ve won their last five games and are 8-3 on the season. He produced 24 points (11-19 FG), four rebounds, three assists and two steals in a victory over St. Thomas More Academy this past Tuesday. Monday night, they’ll have a big challenge on their hands when they face Ravenscroft School and he’ll certainly be a player to watch. DII programs in the region would be wise to get eyes on him.
Kyrell Shaw Kyrell Shaw 6’4″ | SG Northside Christian Academy | 2024 State NC has been on quite the shooting tear in Northside Christian Academy as they’ve won three games in a row. He’s knocked down 10 3-pointers including a 5-for-8 effort against Gaston Day School to kick off the month of December. Since coming off back-to-back losses, he’s looked to play his role as a scorer with a more efficient outlook. He’s producing 19.2 PPG on 55 percent shooting from the floor and 41 percent from deep through 10 games for the the Knights. DI and DII programs in the region should get eyes on him. They’ve got Cannon School on Tuesday and Lake Norman Christian on Thursday.
DJ Boyce DJ Boyce 6’3″ | CG United Faith Christian | 2024 State NC remains to be an impressive sharpshooting name to know in North Carolina’s 2024 class. He’s a new face at United Faith Christian Academy fitting in quite well in their backcourt. Boyce went off for 26 points against Cannon School, knocking down eight 3-pointers on 8-of-12 shooting from behind the arc. He’s one of the top shooters in the HoopState that’s starting to turn a corner with United Faith Christian Academy. He’s shooting 39-for-75 (52 percent) from 3-point land while averaging 18.4 PPG, 2.8 RPG AND 1.5 APG in the United Faith Christian backcourt. Look for him to play a big role in their quest for an NCISAA state crown this season.
Chris Uwayo Chris Uwayo 6’1″ | CG Panther Creek | 2024 State NC is an emerging lead guard at Panther Creek High who’s off to a hot start both scoring and distributing the ball. He’s produced 25.0 PPG, 5.3 APG, 2.3 RPG and 2.0 SPG as they’re off to a 3-1 start to the season. He kicked the season off with a 32-point outing on 12-of-15 FG and 7-of-10 FT in their season-opener that saw them post 108 points. He’s an electric guard with the dynamic ability to make things happen whenever the ball comes his way. He knows how to draw contact and finish in traffic just as well as finding others in space tgo make things happen. He’s another name for DII and DIII programs in the region to get eyes on.
