What underclassmen did we see at the Tip Off Classic this past weekend? Here is our report!

[player_tooltip player_id='2126128' first='Isaiah' last='Asuma'] of Cherry (6'0 fr). With Isaac being defended with a special rule, [player_tooltip player_id='1601068' first='Noah' last='Asuma'] having to defend primarily, and [player_tooltip player_id='1579911' first='Carson' last='Brown'] getting special ruled by Holy Family, [player_tooltip player_id='2126128' first='Isaiah' last='Asuma'] stepped into an opportunity to take a lot of shots and he made shots. Not only that, he scored within the flow and scored with effort plays running the floor, attacking on cuts, going after long boards and all of it equated to 20 important points in a win. Shot 8 of 17.

[player_tooltip player_id='1601068' first='Noah' last='Asuma'] of Cherry (6'1 soph). Sometimes you have to play a role that takes you away from doing other things and that was Noah. He had to low post defend a player eight inches taller and much heavier, and was not able to post up himself. But Noah did the job and was able to limit some touches.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560835' first='Tian' last='Chatman'] of Totino-Grace (6'4 soph). Chatman scored 12 mixing in that versatile skill that includes the feet set jumper, that transition finish ahead of the defense, the shifty attack bucket, and the separation attack. A very strong foundation.

[player_tooltip player_id='2295283' first='DeAngelo' last='Dungey'] of Breck (6'2 soph). We have talked about so many players in the past half year from a deep Breck team. Then you add in Dungey who played good minutes with his steady shooting and smart decisions with the ball against the Alexandria press, and it's an even deeper team. Dungey scored ten points on four shots with three boards and two assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560839' first='Xavier' last='Frelix'] of Park Center (6'2 soph). Frelix opened the game with four threes and later hit a jumper. A 14 point, six rebound game on a big stage for the young Pirate starter. Very clean looking feet set jumper made four times opening the initial lead.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560740' first='Dothan' last='Ijadimbola'] of Totino-Grace (6'6 soph). Ijadimbola opened the game with three attacks to score: two pull-ups and one short make. The sophomore standout was likely the most reliant scoring threat in the halfcourt set for a balanced TG team scoring 19 points on 7 of 11 shooting with four foul shot makes and a team high eight boards. The combination of skill and strength were tough for the Trojan defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='1550877' first='Jayden' last='Moore'] of Hopkins (6'0 soph). The toughness of [player_tooltip player_id='1550877' first='Jayden' last='Moore'] is one of the things that separates him. His toughness was clear when he was constantly on the attack versus East Ridge in half one. You add in the quickness and his feel and you have pound for pound one of the best lead guards you will find. Scored 18 points and 10 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1886972' first='Amari' last='Nobles'] of Mankato East (6'4 soph). Nobles is a player that I really think has a chance as a prospect. Good length, good build, quite agile, plays really hard, and he finished actively and finished consistently. Look forward to seeing him again but in this one game Nobles made a great quick impression.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560807' first='Isaac' last='Olmstead'] of Wayzata (5'10 soph). Olmstead has stepped into a pretty big role as the lead guard of the defending champs and so far he's looked pretty solid. He had a number of really nice creations in the halfcourt offense leading to his six or seven assists plus he scored three times in the win over TG.

[player_tooltip player_id='1950404' first='Bennett' last='Skinner'] of East Ridge (6'2 soph). Bennett had a second half run of four scores in five attempts with two of those being triples and it had East Ridge back within a score. With two main guys out the Raptors needed a scorer to step forward with Tomes and [player_tooltip player_id='1284105' first='Charlie' last='Theis'] and Skinner's 16 were crucial.

[player_tooltip player_id='2103364' first='Carter' last='Steinbeck'] of Breck (6'7 soph). Carter scored on three of four changes, he grabbed five rebounds, and did a nice job against [player_tooltip player_id='1284138' first='Grayson' last='Grove'] with low post defense. All quality things that helped his team win. The thing that really caught my eye was the verbal direction he offered that his team responded so well to defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560882' first='Cedric' last='Tomes'] of East Ridge (6'0 soph). When Tomes started to pull the ball on the deck and get forward, the Raptors offense moved forward. He is one of the deadlier shooters at the arc in the state and the range is big but when he put the ball down everybody seemed to score. And his team got back in the game behind his 19 points and six assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2118449' first='Mason' last='Witt'] of Alexandria (6'0 soph). Grabbed six boards, played a role in the Alex pressure bothering Breck for part of the game, chased down six boards and kept the ball moving for the Cards.

Others

Drew Coleman of Holy Family (6'6 soph)

[player_tooltip player_id='1437598' first='Dane' last='Danielson'] of Lakeville North (6'6 soph)

[player_tooltip player_id='2456058' first='Julius' last='Ellis'] of Hopkins (6'6 soph)

[player_tooltip player_id='1560830' first='Casey' last='Fliehe'] of Lakeville South (6'2 soph)

[player_tooltip player_id='2126117' first='Malachi' last='Hill'] of Totino-Grace (5'10)

Gavin McGuirk of Orono (6'3 soph)

[player_tooltip player_id='2560534' first='Tre' last='Moore'] of Hopkins (5'9 8th)

Muuath Muhammad of Breck (5'9 soph)

[player_tooltip player_id='2140707' first='Waleed' last='Muhammad'] of Breck (6'0 fr)

[player_tooltip player_id='1560864' first='JP' last='Musoke'] of Breck (6'4 soph)

Braden Petzel of Mankato East (6'9 soph)
