On Tuesday I watched a very back-and-forth game between two highly talented teams but Emmanuel Schirtian walked away with the win 62-59 against Scott. Then on Friday night, I watched a very well-coached and young St. John’s Jesuit team get their 5th win of the season against Rogers, 65-51. This article will talk about the Top Players.
Miles had one of the best performances I’ve seen all year. He was dominant. Whatever he wanted he was getting. He ended the game with 34 points, this is a follow-up from a 42-point game seven days before. Miles is a high-level player and his jump from freshman year to this year has been very impressive. He has had so much improvement due to his athleticism. He has gotten faster, quicker, stronger, and better leaping ability. This has opened the entire floor up for him. His best ability used to be three-point shooting but he only made one 3 on Tuesday night. He was getting all of his points in the paint or at the free-throw line. His back-to-the-basket game is very good. He is a freight train in transition now. He caught an off-the-backboard alley-oop dunk in the 3rd quarter. He was exposing mismatches all game. He grabbed a ton of rebounds. He knew when to attack and that was when the game was close and the Warriors needed a bucket. One of the best performances I’ve seen this year.
I really liked what I saw from Peters Tuesday night. He has everything you would want in a guard. He has good size and length. He plays within himself and makes good decisions with the ball. He is a smooth athlete and player. His shot is beautiful. He knocked down three 3s to start the game and they kept raining in the whole game. He has a wide frame as well. He showed some good touch around the rim when attacking the paint. He made big shots in the 4th quarter. He finished the game with 23 points and I feel like he could have played better. Big fan of Mario Peters Mario Peters 6’3″ | CG Toledo Scott | 2024 OH .
Highlights
Murphy is having a breakout senior season and putting up over 20 points in most games. He did not do this on Friday but you can see why this senior is having a breakout year. He is super confident and you can tell he has the green light. His shot is coming off the hand quickly and at a high point. It’s a high-arching shot. He needs little to get his shot up. Murphy also has a next-level range. He is making plays for others. He is a very long guard and this really helps him on defense. He got a lot of poke outs. This caused turnovers and easy points for his teammates in transition.
Kowalczyk came into the year with two D1 offers and coming off a hot offseason. He showed me on Friday night that he can be impactful and score in multiple different ways. He is a good shooter so the defense respects it but he used his height and physicality to get buckets. He almost all of his points in the paint. He played tough and got a lot of rebounds and second-chance points. He finished the ball well through traffic and showed good touch. He used his length well on both ends of the floor and made a good winning impact on the game.
