Scholastic matchups followed the rest of the day including marquee games between Archbishop Stepinac (NY) and Corona Centennial (CA), Sunnyslope (AZ) and St. John Bosco, and Perry vs Harvard Westlake (CA).
Taj had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 three’s in Wasatch’s win over Canyon International Academy on Saturday morning. DeGourville shot the ball efficiently from the field finishing 6/12 and 4/7 from the 3-point line. He is a strong scoring guard who is able to play well through contact and post up smaller guards as well as being a catch and shoot threat.
Highlights
Fischer shot the ball excellently on Saturday morning in Wasatch’s win over Canyon International Academy. Brown finished 7/8 from the field and 4/5 from three for 19 points in just 21 minutes. He moves excellently without the ball and has a quick, smooth release that is repeatable.
Luke had 7 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks in AZ Compass Prep’s win over Veritas on Saturday morning. Bamgboye needs to improve and refine his touch around the basket but has great length and positional sense as he made a big impact on the game with his effort on the glass and protecting the rim.
Sammie had 16 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block in AZ Compass Prep’s win over Veritas on Saturday morning. Voted MVP/Player of the game, Yeanay effected the game at both ends as he finished 5/15 from the field, 1/5 from three, and 5/5 from the free throw line.
Andrew had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 three’s in Veritas Prep’s close loss to AZ Compass Prep on Saturday morning. Nagy continued his good scoring weekend finishing 7/14 from the field and 3/7 from the three point line.
Tee had 21 points and 12 rebounds in Coronado’s tough loss to Basha on Saturday afternoon finishing 6/12 from the field and 9/10 from the free throw line. Bartlett was able to overpower Basha’s bigs with his physicality to gain valuable position inside and constantly drew contact to get to the line.
Highlights
Mason had 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in Basha’s win over Coronado on Saturday afternoon finishing 6/14 from the field, and 2/2 from three. Magee made plays on both ends in this one as a tough, physical defender and as a quick, dynamic playmaker/distributer.
Isaiah had a major offensive performance on Saturday afternoon in Corona Centennial’s tough loss to Archbishop Stepinac, finishing with 31 points on 12/18 from the field and 7/9 from three. Rogers caught fire from the beyond the arc in this one, excelling as a catch and shoot option both on the wings and at the top of the key.
Johnuel “Boogie” had 27 points and 4 assists in Archbishop Stepinac’s win over Corona Centennial on Saturday afternoon, finishing 8/17 from the field, 4/10 from three, and 7/10 from the free throw line. Fland played through an injury scare in the second half to score 16 of his 27 points with a bevy of finishes in the paint and with soft touch in the mid range area.
Braylan put on a sharpshooting display on Saturday afternoon in Archbishop Stepinac’s tough win over Corona Centennial, finishing with 30 points and 4 rebounds on 9/14 from the field, 8/10 from 3, and 4/4 from the free throw line. Ritvo provided a steady scoring presence for Stepinac from the tip in this game as he hit 4 three’s and scored 16 points in the first half en route to his 30 point performance.
Justin had 23 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals in Sierra Canyon’s tough overtime loss to Desert Mountain on Saturday night, finishing 8/22 from the field, 1/9 from 3, and 6/10 from the free throw line. Pippen attacks the basket tremendously well especially when he’s going downhill, has the strength and athleticism to elevate up and through bigger defenders, and soft touch to finish difficult opportunities.
Noah had 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals in Sierra Canyon’s close overtime loss to Desert Mountain, finishing an efficient 8/16 from the field, 2/5 from the 3-point line, and 5/6 from the free throw line. Williams scored the ball well from the mid-range and in, showing good body control and touch around the basket.
Bryce had an efficient 18 point performance on Saturday night in Sierra Canyon’s overtime loss to Desert Mountain, adding in 3 rebounds and 2 assists to finish 8/13 from the field, 0/2 from the 3 point line, and 2/4 at the charity stripe. Cofield exhibited his athleticism, strength, and finishing ability with some tough finishes inside including several powerful dunks.
Kaden had 27 points, 4 rebounds, 14 assists, and 3 steals in Desert Mountain’s hard-fought win over Sierra Canyon on Saturday night, finishing 8/13 from the field, 1/4 from 3, and 7/10 from the free throw line. House was all over the court and dynamic in this one as he repeatedly got into the paint to create for himself and others, as evident by his 27 points and 14 assists. Kaden is so difficult to stop because of his elite quickness, first step, and creativity/footwork in the paint.
Kalek had 21 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals in Desert Mountain’s closely contested win over Sierra Canyon, finishing 10/15 from the field, and 3/4 from the 3-point line. Kalek’s upper body strength, creativity around the basket, and ability to finish from a variety of angles is what makes him so difficult to slow down.
Kade finished with 23 points in an efficient offensive performance that included 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals in St. John Bosco’s win over Sunnyslope on Saturday night. Bonam exhibited good strength and physicality down low as well as the touch to play through contact and heavy pressure in the paint.
John had 20 points, 2 rebounds, and 6 assists in Sunnyslope’s tough loss to St. John Bosco on Saturday night. Mattingly was able to hurt Bosco from all over the court tonight as he set up numerous teammates for easy opportunities and provided floor spacing for Sunnyslope by hitting 4 threes. John is a confident playmaker with good vision who is able to use his 3 point shooting ability to create space for himself, for teammates, and draw extra defenders.
Robert finished with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block in Harvard Westlake’s win over Perry on Saturday night. Hinton attacked the basket with tremendous strength, often shrugging off defenders and finishing with ease at the bucket. He also showed great touch and a variety of moves in the mid range area as well that proved effective in this one as he finished 7/13 from the field and 2/3 from 3.

Trent finished with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal in Harvard Westlake’s victory over Perry on Saturday night. Perry scored the ball from all over the court in this one as he used a variety of dribble moves to create separation consistently on the perimeter and rose up over defenders to knock down jumper after jumper, eventually finishing 10/23 from the field, 2/5 from 3.
