Futures of NorCal Rising 2029 Prospects

PH NorCal was at Oakland Tech High in Oakland, CA for the Simply Basketball NorCal Futures Showcase event featuring top prospects in the Class of 2029, and Incoming Freshman for the Class of 2030. The Class of 2029 was well represented with more of the rising prospects from the 2029 class.    Boodie is an improving prospect. He has the tools to effect the game on both ends of the court. He's long, lengthy, and active. He can be a contributor on the offensive side of the ball. He made a couple of moves to finish at the rim, made the open 3ptr, ran the court in transition. What stood out was his effort on the defensive side, he didn't give up, went high to challenge shots, got his share of rebounds.     Silva made some adjustments after transferring into Saint Ignatius this Spring. The long wiry prospect has good upside to his game. Standing 6'6 with an improving inside/out game he had good activity at this event going after rebounds, with a good second effort to convert. He had scoring opportunities in the paint. He's a good court runner, ball mover, makes cuts with good hands to finish.     He has size and strength with good bounce around the rim to finish with dunks at times. He powers up off two feet for points and rebounds. He's got improving handles that allows him to utilize one or two dribble drive moves, using spin moves and other ways to finish around the rim. He's got the hops to go get lobs, and an improving mid-range jumper with lift.     He's as steady as they come. The transfer point guard from Grant High continues to show he's one of the rising point guards in the Sacramento Area. Excellent ball handler, and passer, has the court vision and willingness to involve mates. He can get by defenders, get into the paint for assists and points, jumpers, and floaters. He's a threat to knock down 3's. Has the footspeed to harass ball handlers at times.     Gordon is a solid body, strong guard who played with good energy at this event. He used his handles and thick body to aggressively attack the basket whenever the opportunity presented itself from the perimeter, and transition. He pulled up for mid-range, and paint jumpers. He was a physical defender with lateral movement staying close.     The feisty guard from Dublin High might have been the most active and competitive player on the court. He brought the spark needed using speed, strength, quality handles. He created his shots from different angles, hit pull ups, dropped 3's in transition. He has the speed and leverage to get close and stay close harassing whoever he's defending on ball or off.     A rising prospect lengthy loose arms, footspeed, can effect the game on both sides. He's got the tools to be a productive scorer with the ball in hand with quick decisive moves to get into his shot attacking for lay ups, pulling up for short jumpers. He looks for his shot. He has the range, knocks down 3's when in rhythm. He defends with effort.     Harris comes into the event known for his size as a big guard who can facilitate. He has good handles, court vision, a willing ball mover. He shot the ball well spotting up from different spots with open looks for 3-pointers. We saw extra effort to help rebound.     A good size guard probably a combo but does have point guard skills. Handles, court vision a willing passer. He made key plays during one stretch of a game, got a key steals, made extra pass to cutters for the assist He squares up around the perimeter always a threat to drop a 3ptr with a good release.     Jones has grown a bit, and has added a reliable jump shot to his game. He knocked down a couple of 3-pointers, pulled up for mid-range jumpers. He has speed, quality handles, and can attack defenders off the dribble to get into the paint for assists, paint jumpers, and floaters. He has the footspeed to stick close to ball handler.     West had a good Spring and Summer improving his overall play on the court. He's athletic has strong finishes around the rim, including transition dunks. He's made improvement to parts of his offensive game. He's an excellent defender, an improving rebounder who's willing to mix it up a bit. He'll be a contributor this season.
