The NY state player of the year voted by the New York High School sportswriters has traded the bluegrass state for razorback red and Coach Calipari. Boogie is a winner. Plenty of winning, city and state titles was done while he was a Crusader for Stepinac.  Can drain threes but has shown he is an elite three level scorer. A shot maker and playmaker. Elite skill set. He is the whole package. Defends well, can rebound from the guard position. Outstanding vision and court awareness. Knows who and when to get the ball took teammate. Clutch down the stretch. Arkansas was happy to get Coach Calipari but the idea he’s taking the N Y state player of year with him is in Kentucky known as a daily double for Arkansas.

Fland has committed to Arkansas. Fland possesses an exceptional ability to break down defenses with ease, showcasing his prowess as a big-time playmaker on the court. As a crafty finisher at the rim, he utilizes his size and agility to navigate through traffic and convert difficult shots with finesse. Not only does Fland excel on the offensive end, but he also demonstrates a commitment to defense, using his instincts and athleticism to disrupt opponents and create turnovers.

Of course we’ll start with Boogie. 40 points but he was so much more impressive. Posting a double-double with 11 rebounds, from the guard position. He showed the ability to control the game at every key point of the game. Does not get sped up. Plays at the pace his coach and he feels his right at the time. Elusive and quick to the basket. Ball is on a string. Just a tremendous talent. Kept on envisioning  him in Kentucky blue  playing with  all the Wildcat talent that Coach Cal will have with him.

The CHSAA “AA” player of the year showed up in a big way on Tuesday night to the tune of 24 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals against Scanlan. The Crusaders move the ball extremely well, as Braylan Ritvo Braylan Ritvo 6'6" | SF Stepinac | 2024 State NY , Jasiah Jervis Jasiah Jervis 6'4" | SG Archbishop Stepinac | 2026 State #34 Nation NY and Hassan Koureissi all finished in double figures as well. Junior guard Danny Carbuccia Danny Carbuccia 6'1" | PG Stepinac | 2025 State #59 Nation NY was able to get all of his teammates involved as usual, finishing with 10 assists.

It wasn’t a classic scoring night from Boogie, who instead showcased more of his ability to get his teammates involved and his overall floor game. He often started the break on his own and picked out shooters in transition. Every time Eagle Academy seemed to close the gap, Fland found a way to assert himself on both sides of the ball. He finished with 7 points, 6 assists and 4 steals.

The future Kentucky Wildcat is doing it all for Stepinac. A really good rebounding guard can defend as well. High basketball IQ. With deep range he can get into the lane if you defend him to tight. A legit high D1 talent. Does everything for his team night after night. With all his individual skill he still gets his talented teammates involved.

Boogie as he is known will be quickly loved by Big  Blue Nation. The future Kentucky Wildcat is a scoring point guard who really understands what his job is on the court. A floor general and leader. The ability to score on his own either off the drive or from deep is tremendous. But his understanding to get teammates involved by drive , draw and kick is at the elite level. Outstanding court vision and awareness. Defends with the same energy has he exudes on the offensive end. A born leader with tremendous shot making ability.

Fland has proven to be a consistent scorer for Stepinac, showcasing his scoring prowess across all three levels of the court. As the stage gets bigger, Fland’s performance only elevates, demonstrating his ability to thrive under pressure and deliver during crucial moments. His ability to step up on the grandest stages highlights his competitive spirit and determination to excel in high-pressure situations.

Despite the blowout loss to No. 1 Montverde Academy, Fland led all scorers with 23 points. He scored in a variety of ways whether he was finishing on the attack or off the bounce from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, Fland was very versatile where he was often at times guarding multiple positions. His athleticism and potential are continuing to skyrocket as he is a potential first round draft pick in 2025.

Johnuel has regained the top spot. The future Kentucky Wildcat has the complete game when you uncover everything he does on the hardwood. The talent is elite he can score multiple ways. He rebounds very well for a guard. He defends on the ball but also has great court awareness that helps him defend off the ball. Exceptional handle against tough opposition. He can weave in and out of trouble. Always in control.  With all these attributes on the court off the court is what gets  him to ascend to the #1 spot. A loyal, winning player who leads by example on and off the court.
