There were nationally ranked matchups, some great matchups between teams from both states and tons of high level talent throughout the event.
I was there Friday and Saturday, and here’s part three of the many standouts from the NC teams in attendance.
Colt Langdon Colt Langdon 6'7" | SG Millbrook | 2025 State #114 Nation NC | 6’7” WF | Millbrook 2025
While Millbrook didn’t have the best showing in their loss to Cannon School, but Langdon did show why he’s one of the top prospects in North Carolina in the class as he scored the ball at will even without having his best shooting day. While he usually does quite a bit of damage from deep, the shot wasn’t falling but that didn’t discourage him as he found his way to spots in the midrange and attacked the basket hard for some tough finishes at the rim. His ability to put it on the deck and use his size and strength to finish around the rim, as well as his ability to make shots from all over, makes him such a tough matchup to guard one-on-one.
Eli Ellis Eli Ellis 6'1" | PG Moravian Prep | 2025 State NC | 6’1” PG | Moravian Prep 2025
Ellis is on elf the most viral prospects in the country and had a huge following at the OBX, and he did not disappoint at all as he went for 34 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in their win over STAB on Saturday. Ellis was completely in his bag showing the entire repertoire, scoring in so many different ways while getting in the heads of his opponents and did it all in front of the South Carolina Head Coach who was smiling ear to ear about his latest commit. He’s such a versatile offensive player as he has effortless range from deep, he gets to spots and has great footwork to create space in the midrange, he can post defenders and has tons of moves and counters to score it and he’s a strong finisher through contact as well.
Abu Yarmah | 6’7” WF | Moravian Prep 2025
While Yarmah didn’t put up huge numbers for Moravian in their win, the Roanoke native is showing strides in the right directions as he is becoming more perimeter oriented and showed a lot of flashes as a two way impact player moving forward. He has great length and moves his feet well to stay in front defensively, and he’s an explosive athlete who can come help side to block shots or challenge shots on the perimeter as well. He is showing improvement in his perimeter skillset offensively as he made a few shots and put it on the deck well, and he is a very good rebounder and can play above the rim with his athleticism.
Kobe Edwards | 6’2” PG | Greenfield 2026
Edwards is a very intriguing prospect in Eastern NC and while he’s one of the youngest players on this experienced and talented Greenfield team he’s trusted to be their primary ball handler and facilitator and didn’t disappoint at all. While he isn’t the tallest player he has a great frame that will get stronger and while he’s already explosive he’s likely still growing and will become even more athletic as he grows into his body. He plays with great pace and changes speeds and directions well to get in the lane, he made plays for others and showed great feel, he sat down and guarded the ball well and he showed the ability to make shots and get to the line too.
Lincoln Vinson Lincoln Vinson 6'1" | SG Cannon | 2027 State NC | 6’1” PG | Cannon School 2027
Vinson may only be a freshman on a Cannon School with two of the top upperclassmen in the state, but they showed no hesitation trusting him to make shots and plays and he played well beyond his years as well. The 6’1” point guard has moxxy as he didn’t back down and was aggressive offensively, getting to spots in the midrange off the bounce and working off the ball to get open and knock down shots from deep. He’s a talented shot maker and a playmaker with good feel, and he seems to have some toughness as he didn’t back down and showed great confidence throughout the event.
King Gibson King Gibson 6'4" | CG The Burlington School | 2027 State NC | 6’4” WF | Burlington School 2027
While there were quite a few very intriguing young prospects at the event, Gibson may have been the most intriguing of all as he doesn’t look or play like a freshman at all and is chock full of potential moving forward. At 6’4” with long arms and as an explosive athlete, he is able to get downhill and play through contact and above the rim in ways you don’t see many freshman capable of. He showed an array of moves off the bounce to get to spots and create space, he made shots from multiple levels and he has all the tools to be a lock down defender as well.
