One of the more impressive performances from the weekend, Rothwell has clearly taken a step this off-season and looks like a legit sidekick to Bransyn Copas Bransyn Copas 6’0″ | PG North Adams | 2024 State OH in the North Adams backcourt. His first bucket of the game was off a spin to his left side and then shortly after had a coast-to-coast acrobatic finish at the rim. Always been a steady playmaker, Rothwell sets his teammates up and is capable of hitting an open shot. You combine those skills with improvements in confidence off the bounce and finishing at the rim and Rothwell is a name to watch in southeast Ohio.
Huntington (WV) came out with a ton of energy and the play of Johnson got them going. On the first play of the game Johnson finished an alley-oop layup and then had a tough drive with his left hand. Playing with a ton of aggressiveness from the wing, when Johnson caught the ball he was looking to get downhill and attack. With his strength and athleticism, he gave Olentangy Liberty some problems in the paint. Combine these skills with a couple spot-up 3-pointers and Johnson looks like a potential scholarship basketball prospect.
Coming off the bench for New Albany, I liked what Krylov provided for the Eagles on Saturday. Knocked down some shots from the corner, moved without the basketball and had a sweet reverse layup. With solid size on the wing and showing his basketball iq playing with an experienced team, Krylov is a name to watch over the next few years in central Ohio.

When star Zander Carter was in foul trouble in the first half, it was the shooting of LaLonde that helped Blazer maintain a halftime lead before Carter came out aggressive in the second half. A quick release and confident shooter, LaLonde was firing them from the corner every time he caught it off the catch. Able to run the floor and get some easy transition layups as well, LaLonde is a solid athlete from the off-guard position. Showing some ability to make plays off the bounce as well including a drive and dish plus a hangtime layup, LaLonde should be checked out by regional Division II and NAIA programs this upcoming spring and summer.
South Webster looks like a potential contender in southeast Ohio Division IV with Roberts and a nice 2025 core around him. Growing to around 6’7, 6’8 since the last time I saw him play, I thought Roberts effort level was much improved, grabbing a ton of rebounds and making some toughness plays. With his size and length, he’s able to grab balls off the rim he opponents couldn’t reach and was being aggressive by going back up with these putback opportunities. If the shot comes around for Roberts, he’ll have more Division I interest as his movement skills at his size are rare to find. Keep an eye on the Jeeps for a potential deep playoff run in Division IV this season.
