Michael Roth | Prep Hoops Scout
After watching him on the Prep Hoops Circuit and at our Top 250 Expo I was ready to add Rothwell to our rankings during this update. After seeing him impress for North Adams against Bishop Hartley in a marquee match-up Rothwell debuted even higher in our rankings. One of the top passers in southeast Ohio, it appears Rothwell has gained confidence as a scorer and has North Adams in position to defend their district title they won last season. Expect Rothwell to gain a lot of small college interest this summer.

in the North Adams backcourt. His first bucket of the game was off a spin to his left side and then shortly after had a coast-to-coast acrobatic finish at the rim. Always been a steady playmaker, Rothwell sets his teammates up and is capable of hitting an open shot. You combine those skills with improvements in confidence off the bounce and finishing at the rim and Rothwell is a name to watch in southeast Ohio.

He even snatched victory from the jaws of defeat for his team as after being down 3-points with 15 seconds left, his teammate hit a 3-pointer to tie the game. On the inbounds pass, Rothwell flew in to steal it and finish an open layup at the buzzer for the win. The straw that stirs the drink for Gem City’s 16 U squad, Rothwell consistently leads the team in assists and gets his teammates going through his passing. A pass first point guard, Rothwell is a guy who sets his teammates up first and then looks to score himself. As a slasher, Rothwell was either looking to make the right pass to an open teammate or seek contact to head to the free throw line. Gem City Basketball Club had two blowout victories and their ball movement and unselfish play were key factors in these blowouts.
