Hard to believe but the basketball season kicks off for real a week from tonight. Heading into the season, there are several teams who can win it all and plenty of players that are primed for big seasons. Even if Mr. Basketball is already decided. Keep in mind that the player of the year has to be a Senior!

Ninth Region:

Champs: Covington Catholic. It's really a three horse race between them, Newport and Cooper. Coin flip pick. I guess I'll take Cov Cath.

POY: Caden Miller, Covington Catholic

Tenth Region:

Champs: George Rogers Clark. It's either them or Mason County that's most likely to win it. Let's take the defending champs to stay on top.

POY: [player_tooltip player_id='939382' first='Blake' last='Reed'], Mason County

Eleventh Region:

Champs: Frederick Douglass. Hard to pick against Great Crossing but Douglass could be their kryptonite with their guards and high pace.

POY: [player_tooltip player_id='1126557' first='Jay' last='Rose'], Madison Southern

Twelfth Region:

Champs: Danville Christian. This may be the most wide open region in the state. Hard to pick.

POY: [player_tooltip player_id='1157016' first='Owen' last='Barnes'], Mercer County

Thirteenth Region:

Champs: Harlan County. If the Black Bears don't win it this year, they may never win it.

POY: [player_tooltip player_id='939116' first='Trent' last='Noah'], Harlan County

Fourteenth Region:

Champs: Breathitt County. Another wide open region. I'll roll with the Bobcats to run it back.

POY: [player_tooltip player_id='939113' first='Skylar' last='Ritchie'], Wolfe County

Fifteenth Region:

Champs: Pikeville. It's either them or Martin County. I'll take the Panthers.

POY: [player_tooltip player_id='1197227' first='Jaylan' last='Rigdon'], Pike County Central

Sixteenth Region:

Champs: Ashland Blazer. Another tight region but until someone stops them, I'll take Ashland.

POY: [player_tooltip player_id='1346090' first='De'Mahjae' last='Clark'], Bath County
